metal injection article with Maynard explaining album theme and length of songs
quote:
The title, of course, alludes to accepting your fears or being immersed in them, to overcome them.
Maynard explains "I feel like this is [about] wisdom through age, through experience. Hopefully through aging you find wisdom in some of the things you've encountered. Learning from your mistakes, learning from your successes. So if anything is a broad stroke of this album, it would be embracing where we are right now, acknowledging where we've come from and some of the things we've grown through."
Adam Jones echoed the sentiment adding "Things like, 'I'm gonna wear socks with sandals. I don't give a frick what people think, I'm just gonna be comfortable.' [laughs] So it's about the little things in life. It's making those choices and moving on and growing. There's a little bit of Frank Herbert's Dune in that, so I'm into it. I'm so excited for this new record. The songs are very long but they are like movements. It's like two or three songs in one, but they relate. They flow. So I don't know. We'll see how it goes. But I am ecstatic.

Cornbread, you know I'll be one of the first pre-orders clicking at midnight tonight, and I don't care what they put up, I'm all over it.

Can't wait to see what its like... Surprised they didn't just formally release one of the two they played at previous shows.

7am tomorrow? frick...
That is what fourtheye is reporting... And he is pretty in tune with the ins and outs of what is going on involving Tool.
I question it too, because I think as soon as Apple and -others put the album up for pre-order, they would have the first track available for listen. But what do I know..

Is that Tom Morello in the background with the blue hat?
Man I just loved Opiate in high school. When it was cool to retroactively like the band’s previous work before they got super famous. Teenagers are such losers!

Most of y'all probably know, but Tom Morello jammed with TOOL back in LA when Rage and TOOL were both trying to make it.
Morello has a radio show on Sirius and had a cool story about Maynard teaching him drop d tuning and he said the first song he wrote in that tuning was Freedom, which is the most badass Rage track imo.

1 MORE HOUR
I think it goes with the whole digital release of the catalog and social media presence. They know the tool fanbase has been patient and stuck around for 13 years despite so much trolling, silence, etc from the band. They're "rewarding" everyone in a way.

Not only that, Maynard was almost the singer of RATM. He jammed with them before joining Tool.
Can you imagine a Rage album with MJK?
Thats one reason we ended up with his guest spot on Know Your Enemy which is awesome

Morello joined them at Bonnaroo 2007 for Lateralus. Very cool moment.
