I recently bought a new car and it was an interesting experience.

The first dealership I went to was an AutoNation dealership and apparently they have almost zero flexibility with the price. They politely asked me to leave and I walked away when we were 1700 dollar apart.

Called a different dealership a few hours away, got the price I wanted and signed the paperwork the next weekend. Easy. I would definitely recommend negotiation the price ahead of time.

My visit to an auto dealership today by Will Cover
I walked into a dealership and told the sales guy that I was "going to buy a car today."

When we couldn't reach a deal and I started to leave he said, "I thought you said you were buying a car today."

My reply was "I didn't say I was going to buy it here."

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago...It was very strange... I felt that the sales manager was "trying to pull a fast one" on me so I decided to leave. The sales manager literally ran out of the building to chase me down in the parking lot and asked me " where are you going? I thought we had a deal "

Strange

You think the sales guys don't read tigerdroppings? The Will Cover Method is taped up on the wall in every back office to teach young salesman how to avoid being screwed out of their hard earned commission.

I emailed the dealerships. Found the vehicle I liked in at a dealership in Mississippi. The salesman responded with best price. They delivered it to me free of charge to Lake Charles. I’ll never buy a vehicle another way again.

When a automobile salesman hears "I'm going to buy a car today", it's usually bullsh!t. Take it to the bank.A seasoned sales pro will ignore it.
You guys lie more than salesmen do.
