That’s what I was trying to say but it’s easier to downvote than explain.

Who would we have to miss on, even the 5* TE we are entertaining right now.
We know with the tight numbers we aren’t taking 2 TE’s when we have TE’s already on the team. Does that make sense to anyone else?
What I should have said was: Does he have a legit offer or is it wait and see?

The OP said he wouldn’t be surprised if he made this class, I didnt disparage the guy, just said I’d be surprised if he made the cut with the limited spots we have left.

Makes sense. I think we only take a TE in this class if he is elite.

I think he's one of the TEs the staff has targeted. Obviously if the 5 star from out west wants to jump on board, maybe they reshuffle the deck. Think Taylor is definitely a take and while only a 3 star, he's got a ton of big offers.

it's becoming more obvious there will be some attrition with the current commits....

I lived in grand junction for 3 years.

The talent in that part of the state is worse than 3A level bad on Louisiana. The coaching is superb and top notch, just the gene pool is severely lacking.

So, for this kid to garner an offer tells me he has to be a stud. I can't stress how poor the talent is up there as a collective whole.

Palisade outside Grand Junction was the powerhouse and I met two of their coaches who actually sent their offensive staff down to River Ridge to Coach Curtis' coaching clinic on running the veer.

Yea that makes sense and I’m not a star gazer but that TE Washington from LV is a stud and a game changer.

Looks like he’s more of a pass catcher and less of a blocker then fof was.

Yes. That kid is a unique talent at the position.

Every thread you have to sneak in a tidbit that insinuates you’re in the know. It’s embarrassing.

Not saying this kid is a "must take", but his film looks pretty good. For his size he seems to have quick feet. His body control and ability to adjust to poorly thrown balls is good. He gets out of his breaks well and looks more like a pass catching TE than an in line guy.

He's a 3 star, but close to a low 4 star and is the #6 overall player from Colorado. Probably lower level competition so hard to judge. If they camped the kid they should have a good idea if he's worth a spot.

I’m going to tell you guys this, someone on our current staff is putting a premium on great TEs and will use them a ton. But they want the best of the best. If they’re looking at this guy in particular then he fits the mold of what they looking for in the new offense.

Yes we want that extra blocker who can catch the ball but I think we have that. What they want is a true pass catching TE who’s tough over the middle and catches in traffic. Can get up high in the RZ for scores. Of course we take the guy who can do both but just because he’s a 3* player doesn’t mean who ever is looking for this particular TE doesn’t think he can get that done at a high level.

I don’t think they’re looking at numbers as hard as others here. They’re looking at how these guys fit into the scheme and if he can get the job done. I’m sure they’ve also gaged the interest of the others and will play one off of the other until they have the best available. Simple as that. They will make the numbers work if they find a better option down the road, I don’t believe this staff is afraid to ruffle a few feathers. It’s a business decision.

Well Bama managed to find a decent 3 star TE in our back yard.

247

The staff just needs to do their homework and do a full eval to see if the kid is worth a spot and it seems they have been pretty diligent. I imagine this kid is an option if the others don't seem to be trending to us.

It’s a post on 247 about Kole Taylor and it hints at a possible boom for LSU. This thread was started not too much longer after that thread was started on 247. That’s why he’s saying he wouldn’t be surprised to see him in this class.

Exactly! Nothing against the kid, but with the few precious spots we have remaining, we need to address the lines of scrimmage over TE.

It's pretty clear to see LSU's staff wants to sign a TE in this class if they can get a good one. Same goes for RB and OLber.
