Nathan Forrest is a hero to the people of the South, and Tennessee in particular.
I’m not trying to pick a fight here, but what did Forrest do for the CSA that was significant?
I’ve only ever known him as the guy who founded the KKK.

1. His nickname was "Wizard of the Saddle"
2. The KKK was founded to protect Southerners from the horrible tyranny of Northern rule.

You need to educate yourself - Nathan Bedford Forrest is still studied at US Military Academies for his tactical wizardry. THE most effective cavalry commander on either side of the Civil War.
Forrest was one of the founders of the KKK - but it was organized to oppose the excesses of the Reconstruction era governance imposed on the south.
He disassociate himself from the KKK when it turned toward harassing/attacking blacks.
At least that is the scenario that I learned during my youth.

He also did a lot for the black people after the war of northern agression was over.

He always denied any involvement and claimed that lazy writers conflated his nickname of "Grand Wizard of the Saddle" with the Klan leadership positions that would come years later. I haven't researched this enough to take a position and it could be bullshite but I'm always open to claims of lazy journalism.
