And nobody has said anything about the players draping themselves in the flag and running around the field
Because most probably view that as a "proud to be representing my country" moment.

That flag represents the freedom of expression, not whatever you agree with.

Probably. But it's still disrespecting the flag according the US Flag Code.

So, about that evidence?

I’m not speaking for everyone. Everyone has their own views. Just because that guy over there is a hypocrite doesn’t invalidate the quoted bit.
So spare me the generalization straw man as a response to my posts.
You don’t have to follow the Flag Code to be respectful.
I seriously doubt the teammate that ran over had a monologue of “OH NO, THE CODE!”
Btw, most of what you are describing aren’t even code violations, even by the strictest interpretation so not sure what you are going on about.
It all guidelines to show respect anyway.
The only thing of your list that bothers me (even when people like Greenwood do it) is wearing clothing fashioned like a flag.

quote:Nah, just an entire SI article about it in the June 3-10 issue.
I'm not even sure she said anything on the subject during interviews
Megan Rapinoe Will Be Heard
Yeah, I'm sure that was totally organic and not timed right after the start of the WC for publicity or anything.
And then she went on to talk about it in press conferences, which of course bitching about a host of other things.

And lest we forget, she started doing this shite back in 2016, before Trump was president.

Forget? I didn't even know who rapinoe was until about a month ago. 2016?

The United States Flag Code establishes advisory rules for display and care of the national flag of the United States of America.
The code doesn’t claim to define what disrespect means. Nor does it explicitly cite running around with it in pride and celebration as disrespect.

"Grow men" don't. Thing is, this board is full of kids both chronologically and mentally.
Think trying to have a discussion with your 12 year old neighbor. That's what this place has become

Oh and by the way, just to stamp the delusion that people are just using this as a hollow excuse to bitch at someone whose politics they don’t like, here is literally the exact same thing happening to a non controversial athlete last year.

What it does say is don't hang it upside down. They don't.
It does say that it is to fall free. I guess draping it isn't allowing it to fall freely but it is hanging on them in the proper position.

I guess ships need to stop flying the colors because those flags most certainly get destroyed over time.

You cannot be this stupid but you are proving it, that's for sure.

So the 3 examples you bring to the table all occurred BEFORE the first match of the WC was played on July 7th.
Nothing to show she ran her mouth the entire WC?
Rapinoe was always going to get press during the WC because she's one of the best players on the team. And I agree a lot of the press she got was a result of statements and actions she's taken in her career unrelated to soccer. Your claim though was she pulled a "Kris Jenner PR stunt" during the WC and ran her mouth the entire WC. Neither of those things happened.

I'd argue that is covered under the wearing the flag as clothing section.

Well, shite, you didn't know when the cup was, so frick your whole argument.
Thanks for allowing me to save face, though.

Excuse my brain fart. I clearly meant June 7th. The interview happened BEFORE the WC, and was posted to SI the day before the WC began.
