I’ve been experimenting with different diameters. I seem to think that the thinner stuff cuts better. Thoughts on this??

I like the 0.095” vs the 0.105” on my Stihl trimmers. I’ve used a FS240 and my FS91, and both seems to perform better with the 0.095”

I think the manufacturer sets the line weight for the designed string length and engine RPM/load.

I have always owned cheapie lightweight straight shaft string trimmers, like homelite, weedeater, mtd, etc., all with smaller displacement 2 strokes like 25cc, that want 0.080" string. Pay around a hundred bucks, use it for 3-4 years, then get another.

I like the green star shaped .080 line the best. It lasts way longer even around chain link fence and edging the driveway.
