last night was about the most activity I've ever seen at my light. Dozens of gar, a few rat reds, quite a few trout and a bunch of these. I assume they're juvenile sheepshead? Most seem to be 12-16 inches in length.

Crappie is what it looks like to me. The head/snout looks a little too pointy to be sheepshead but had never heard of crappie around here.

My vote is triple tail.

The tail fin looks like crappie. They’ll also come to light really fast and heavy. And small gar/crappie’s diets are similar.

ive thrown matrix shad and minis at them and they'll chase but never bite. What should I try? I may try and cast net one just to see wth they are ha.

H&H double rigged glass minnow
Maybe try the matrix mini with an unweighted hook?

Shiners and crappie jigs will catch anything hovering the light.

Juvenile TT are typically bright yellow and they often float on their sides around docks.

Yeah, after looking at it further the tail looks too pointed. However, crappie tails aren’t pointed either I don’t think.

I want a few downvotes so I’ll say Triggerfish.
