My folks in Kenner keep the doors locked.

I live in Kenner and don’t. My neighborhood, as with a large portion of Kenner, is quiet and safe.

Everyone has their preference but damn in this day and age it is absolute idiocy to not have your doors locked when you are inside unless you happen to be going in and out a lot that day.

They lock automatically after 5 minutes so I guess yes.

Depends if I'm going in and staying in or going back outside.

Only at night or if we are away overnight. However, I live in a doorman building and all food deliveries are escorted to each apartment so little chance someone breaks into our place with the doors unlocked.

If you don't lock your doors while at home because it is safe, why lock them when you leave or are away?

Something with that logic doesn't make sense.

Either it is safe and you lock anyway or it is safe and no need to lock.

Because we are badasses with guns who can defend our home if need be. If we are away, can't do that.

Yep. My doors stay locked at all times, even if I’m there.

If you need a gun, then it isn't safe.

Our French doors that open to our back porch are generally unlocked during the day when we are home. They open up into our fenced in and gated backyard

Most times the doors are locked and the garage door is always down. I have learned to keep a spare key close by so my wife doesn't lock me out when I'm outside or just tinkering in my shop.

I’m not saying it’s not safe. Just their preference.

We don’t have keys to our house. Lost them years ago.

Of course I do. I live in Batin Ruudge and don't want to be shot or stabbed.
