So the appraised value of the property increased so they have to pay more prop tax? That’s not a tax increase per se, that’s an appraisal issue
Lol

I have a customer in rural California with a home on well water. The state sent someone out to look at putting a meter on her well in order to tax her for the water. She said she’s not far from leaving.
There is no way this is legal.

The problem with the folks next door are they spill over into the street. 3 families with 1500 sq ft means some sleep in the beater(s) parked on the street in front of their house and even eat sitting on the curb at times. Try it Buster Brown and report back.

I don’t know the law in CA but water rights out west are a lot different than the SE.

The property value is the property value, regardless of the size of the house or the identity of the neighbors.
A 1500 square-foot house in Dallas has less than 10% of the monetary value of the same house located in Manhattan.
the amount of the monthly principal and interest payment may be exactly the same size in either state, but the monthly payment to the bank in New York will be significantly larger. The bank is escrowing money for property taxes on 10 times the value, plus property insurance on 10 times the value.

I would guess the appraised value. Payment increased $480. mo.

Before this thread ends, someone will accuse me of supporting taxes upon drinking your own water.

Asking a question of the OP said the mtg went up due to tax increases...I’m simply asking what tax increased the mtg.

Looks like the market is offering a solution.
Too bad there is a no sex rule.
California bunk house $1200 mo.

In Los Angeles and San Francisco, where prices are particularly exorbitant, people have taken to renting bunk beds in communal homes.
PodShare, which provides 10 to 15 co-ed bunkbeds in six locations across California, is hoping to help solve the affordable housing crisis.
The beds can be rented from $35 to $50 a night, which amounts to between $1,050 and $1500 for one month.

It's a funny cycle California has created. Raise taxes to pay for pensions and free shite, and create more homelessness. Raise taxes to help the increased homelessness and that creates more people without homes.
California will not be able to sustain what they are doing, and they will expect the nation to bail them out.

Sounds like on-base housing is the way to go in CA.

To summarize the thread, we have now answered the OP’s questions.
First, the OP accidentally overstated the increase in the monthly payment by $1000. This was the vast majority of the difference.
Second, the vast majority of the remaining change could be attributed to an increase in the appraised value of the home, with a concomitant increase in the amount of property tax being escrowed each month.
Thirdly, there would have been increased insurance costs related (1) to increased property value and (2) also to the recent fire history in the area.
None of this is related in any way to any action by any governmental entity (be it state local or otherwise, be it Dem or GOP). Unless you want to thank/blame a political party for increases in property values.
I will not be holding my breath for an apology from those members of the brain trust who accused me of being a partisan hack for asking exactly the very questions which solved this puzzle.

Two reasons, neither of which is very important.
First, you were the person who ridiculed the original questioner about the nature of the change. You fixed that, to your credit.
Second, your post just happened to be the last one on the thread when I was ready to post

And, despite assertions to the contrary, I tend to be a candid and forthright poster on this board. This ain't my first time admitting error, won't be the last.

I make a little over 140k in San Diego and feel middle class at best. My income in neighboring Nevada or Arizona would be baller status

The problem with them leaving is they bring their bad ideas to other places. They flat out refuse to change and want you to change to the environment they are escaping
