Agree with you 100% and it's not just the fact we blew such a good chance. It's just hard to have sustained success in the NFL. We just had two really really good chances to play for our second SB. We had two really great seasons and it's just hard to have a third in a row. I know we did 09-11 but it's hard for so many reasons.
The real excitement-killer for me was how the playoffs ended the year before.
The way that game ended, it just felt wrong.
Like watching a movie character handle all the challenges presented to him just for him to fail because of a fluke.
That killed a lot of my investment.
The no-call sort of cemented for me how difficult it is to keep excited.

Yeah. I mean don't get me wrong. I will watch the games but I had expectations, for both 2017 and 2018 and they were surpassed.
This season and future seasons, I probably won't have any expectations, probably not for a while. Like I said, if we reel off 8 or 9 in a row or we start smoking fools like we did in the later stretches of 2011 I'll probably get excited again, but not like last year or the year before because it will always be in the back of my mind to not get as invested as I did.

Look man you add the no call and bounty gate and it's frick goddell and the NFL. If the saints ever do leave new Orleans for whatever reason I would be completely done with the league. In the last seven years this team has been royally screwed twice. I feel you 100% don't feel bad about it.

No excitement at all. I am a die hard as well. I dread this fricking season and really dont give a frick about it. I fricking hate Goodell and basically the league at this point. I found myself also debating friends tonight about when was the last time Brees won a big fricking game and I cant remember. D won Philly game and Brees put up 0 points in first half against Minnesota in 2018 playoffs. I just have a bad taste in my fricking mouth and truthfully think they will win less than 10 games this year. Problem is, I just dont fricking care.

I'm the same way. I've felt it all year. The Pelicans rebirth has definitely contributed to the lack of enthusiasm for the Saints. I'm more excited about basketball than the Saints and the Saints can easily win a Super Bowl this year. But it's like every time I start to think about the Saints my mind goes back to January and I quickly think about something else. That will definitely go away once preseason starts, but yes it is very different than how I normally am. It's actually refreshing to be honest
P.S. If the fans feel like this, than so do the players. You always hear how hard it is to recover from tough losses, but that doesn't always carry over to fans. So I have a feeling we'll have a big hump to get over once we start.

Last season taught me to not take it so seriously. I’m still excited though. Not setting any expectations though just excited for the time of the year. I love FB season and Saturday’s and Sunday’s with a reason for family to be together.

Two consecutive years with two frustrating endings.
I was able to reignite the fever last year, post Minneapolis Miracle, then the No-Call happened, and it zapped my energy, knowing it’ll take another September to January sustained effort to attempt a successful title run, with no guarantee of a happy ending.
Got fairly interested in the NFL draft despite no 1st rounder and even free agency moves, but then Zion and the Pelicans Rebirth has consumed all my sports fervor. (The birds will be must-see tv.)
I’m sure when LSU and the Saints kickoff, I’ll be back to normal football levels, especially if there are early nice wins. But for now, I have no significant football itch.

The way the Saints have been eliminated the past two seasons is deflating as frick. It's even worse given that we all realize the timeline with Drew is nearing an end.

I quit my only 2 fantasy leagues because of the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. I am turning my time and attention towards more important things...

I just hope we can grab a wild card and make the playoffs....are schedule is tough sledding.....maybe we knock off another 13 or so wins, but I'm not optimistic about it...
I think thus is the Cowboys and Colts year

Always thought the NFL manipulated things but last years game proved it without a doubt. Obviously Brees is a class act and seeing him robbed of a second opportunity made it worse. Goodell can suck a bag donkey d%cks.

I am pumped up for a great season. The NFL Title Game is history. Let it go and enjoy what could be a great Saints team.

Nope.
I don't follow much of the other sports throughout the year. Saints/LSU football is my thing and I can't freaking wait for September.

It's July.
If you can't find something else to do or think about between now and football season then you need to get your priorities straight.
ETA: My response wasn't directed at you. Just in general.
I don't get excited for the upcoming season until Training Camp starts.

Still excited to watch, but not nearly as much since I chose to not renew my season tickets that I've held since 1997. I also used to travel to 2 away games a year, so not having to book hotel reservations and all that stuff is different too.
I am planning on spending a month in Europe with my football savings in October though. Pretty decent trade-off.

Not that I disagree with your sentiment, but you are posting on a NFL football fan board...
