I’m taking my first golf lesson this Friday with Chris Burkstaller at Greystone. I’ve played on and off for years but, just recently gotten serious about it. What should I expect with Chris or just in general my first lesson. I shoot about 100-105 on average if that helps.

He's really good. He's not overly technical like some other guys. He'll work with what you have and fix your swing from the ground up.

Chris adapts so not all lessons are the same. Just go and enjoy yourself. Throughout it you will learn a little golf.

He’s going to figure out your current swing. Then he’ll point you in the right direction.
You’re going to have to practice and play to get better, but commit to the change.

You’ll get to be a better golfer with lessons. Sometimes it’s quickly. Sometimes it takes a bit longer and some effort on your part. But the game will be even more fun and rewarding.

I got lessons with him last year and he is great. Down to earth guy that won’t over complicate things and get you hitting it solid

I just finished my second lesson this morning (not with the same guy as you though). I seem to be in about the same scoring range as you. First lesson was pitch/chip/put. Today was full swing for an hour. He didn't totally change my swing. Just watched me swing, fixed my grip some and gave me pointers on how to fix the things I was doing wrong. By the end of the hour I was striking it 20 times better, just not consistently. I was doing some pretty small things wrong, and it wasn't complicated to fix, however it does feel incredibly uncomfortable. Will take some practice to feel normal swinging the correct way.

My mindset going in was to just shut my mouth and try to soak up as much information as I could. It seems to be working, but I'm going to wait till I finish the 4 lessons to take my game out to try a full 18 holes.

I have the same average score, and I have my first ever lesson next Thursday with Chris. Until last month, I had not played for 3 years. Picked the clubs back up and want to really work at it to get better. I forgot how much I enjoyed being out there.

Let us know how it goes.

I need to get me a few more touch up lessons since I haven't had one this year. I've got a buddy getting his first lessons at David Toms this weekend. Good luck.
