Woodward's first move - Replace Mainieri with Erik Bakich would be pretty cool

Assistant to Tim Corbin for years, young coach on a strong come up, brought a team to the finals in the CWS who has not been since 1966 or even relevant for that matter in modern history. This would be an absolute home run. Come on Scotty....

He looks good, but I hate to think this is just a flash in the pan.

Let him follow this up with a couple more big years and yeah - he starts to become the guy.

Top 20 team to begin the year. Underachieve during the regular season. Get on a run in the conference tournament and carry it to the championship series.

Does that sound familiar?

Look what he has done with the resources he has at Michigan. Imagine what he could accomplish with the resources available at LSU for Baseball.

A couple more strong years at Michigan and I’m on board

Mainieri isn’t going anywhere for a while if we’re being honest

Michigan isn't lacking in resources.

In that part of the country they're as well known for baseball as pretty much anybody, plus it's a Public Ivy.

They SHOULD be a good program.

Young coach on the come up, bring the fresh life this team has needed, especially when it comes to recruiting and hiring assistant coaches.

Tough crowd here tonight

I'd be very careful about overreacting to one good season if I were Woodward.

Mainieri took Notre Dame to the College World Series, and had sustained success there. Now everyone wants him fired. I've always been a supporter of his, but he has shown considerable signs of accelerating stubbornness, which have lead to some head scratching in game management.

But regardless of what he's doing now, Mainieri certainly was qualified for this job when he took it, and had a lot of success. If we get to a point of replacing him, i'd rather it not be for a one year wonder. As others have said, if this Bakich guy continues to prove himself, then maybe.

What about the Duke coach?
He needed to be the 1st hire after they beat Vandy in regionals.

CPM isn’t going anywhere unless he chooses to or someone gives LSU the money to buy him out.

Hopefully if & when that time comes they will look at someone other than a coach with a 329-259 record.

This is like Alabama football. Do you think they'd give that job to Neal Brown or Josh Heupel?

I’m not saying Corbin isn’t a great coach. Can you list the great accomplishments he has had to separate himself from the TTU coach considering the recruiting classes AND MORE IMPORTANTLY the scholarship limit the guy from tTU has? If anything, I think he has underperformed. He has had multiple number 1 classes, tuition advantages, etc. Quite frankly, he hasn’t faired that well.

If LSU isn’t the Bama football equivalent of CBB, then who is?

Only SC has more NCs, & they haven’t been relevant in CBB for years (kinda like Nebraska FB, once great but not so much any more).

Not sold on the Meeechigan coach just yet, but do feel CPM should be replaced. Sadly, that ain’t happening for a while.

I guess I meant Alabama football has sustained success much longer than LSU baseball has, but I see your point and cant argue that
