Jeff Goodman
@GoodmanHoops
New Orleans boss David Griffin trying to get another first-rounder and also a player on a good contract for the No. 4 pick. Told there have been discussions between Pels No. 4 pick and Minnesota involving No. 11 and Robert Covington.

Would need a future a first as well.

At what point do we simply have too many players to roster?

You could potentially have your 1-3 starters being all-defensive team players next season.

Robert Covington is absolutely a perfect fit.

We won’t get a future first. Maybe another second somewhere.

Aren't there only 7 players under contract going into tonight? I'm including the Lakers guys that aren't technically on the team yet in that number.

throw in wiggins and its a deal.

I just don't understand the logic of trading down and getting a lesser player so you can acquire a guy like Robert Covington. You're impacting your future at that point. Covington is an ok player, but he's not moving the needle for this team.

Toronto just showed everyone that depth wins a championship..
If we get Covington #11 and a future 1st, that's just more pieces to add to a deep team

yeah... especially not to knoco RoCo but what's the drop of between RoCo and his replacement either by FA on resignign someone... probably not drastic.
Whats difference between 1.4 and 1.11 over next 4 years, odds are pretty drastic.

Don't LOVE it, but he's a D&3 guy, fits the mold of what we need. Not the worst... Not the best... Definitely think Minn needs to give up a little more though. As another poster said, a future pick, perhaps.

Replace saric with Covington and I’m all in
Posted on 6/20/19 at 8:43 am to Geaux_Tigers_08
Maybe go with Solo and 4 for Cov Saric and 11?

Think I'd prefer something like this over Cov, 11 & future pick.

He's one of the best defenders in the NBA and he's 6'9"
Go look at the Real +/- stat on ESPN for SF's. You'll see the regulars at the top most years, Lebron, Durant, Kawhi, and then there's this other fellar that hangs around with them, named Robert Covington.
Now what does that stat actually mean? i don't f'in know.

I mean I know it's kind of a questionable statistic, but Robert Covington had a 1.1 EWA added last season. I would have loved to have him two years ago, but I don't see the point now.
I said it last night but you're potentially forfeiting prospects like Garland and Culver that could develop into 10-20 EWA type players for Robert Covington and what? Nassir Little? PJ Washington?
I just can't make any sense of it.
