He didn’t run Star Wars into the ground. That was Kathleen Kennedy with her enforcer Rian Johnson. There’s no way in hell JJ would have approved of that script. He had basically nothing to do with the direction of the franchise after TFA, and was only brought back due to the fan reaction to TLJ.
The fact of the matter is JJ actually a great producer and has a great eye for talent. If you want to look at how he’s actually produced things, look at the Mission Impossible franchise. I just wish JJ would give up direction which he is mediocre and be a full time producer. The third Star Trek film was fricking great for instance. This is actually really good news in my eyes, and they should have just given JJ full control over Star Wars from the start.

It was very good, don't know about great.
