Ditching cable, are certain apps (ESPN, FOX news, etc) free with internet service provider?

I think you can get ESPN3 with some internet providers but for ESPN proper channels (ESPN, 2, SEC Network, U, News, etc) you will need a subscription to a service that offers those channels.....many OTT services work though

Get PS Vue and call it a day.

I have an antenna in the attic feeding my TVs all the locals.
I pay ATT for internet (50$) a month.
I have Netflix (9$), HBO NOW ($15), and Prime which we pay for anyway.
The key is having a login for apps like ESPN, Disney, etc. I use my in-laws and return the favor with steak dinners.

You can go with Kodi for entertainment, Fubo for sports, Amazon Prime for Shows and also Netflix global libraries with vpns that will still unblock netflix here..

There are several different streaming cable alternatives. They all have slightly different price points, features, and national and local channel lineups. So you'll have to check out each to see which one fits your needs best. Services to look at:
PlayStation Vue
YouTube TV
Hulu Live
Sling TV
DirecTV Now
Features to consider:
DVR
Number of concurrent streams
Some services include this in the price like PlayStation Vue, others treat it as an add on and charge you more like Hulu and DirecTV Now.

If you just want ESPN, espn2, ESPN 3, it's hard to beat sling orange for the cost. If you want local channels then hulu. Youtube tv is getting pretty popular too.
I have local channels on a digital antenna and Netflix. Just turn on sling during football season. But I dont watch much tv.

I ditched direct tv and got a hulu acct with MLB. $60. We have net Flix and several HBOs, , finally freedom. We have three TV so you need 10gigs from your internet provider and a fire stick for non smart TV. No problems except when the service goes down. ESPN, SEC, local channels all good.
