Obama took debt that took 230+ years to accumulate and doubled it in 8 years.
He did this on purpose to destroy the country.
He is, and has always been a slimy, anti American communist. The fact that more people can't see this is amazing.
I think you got Bush and Obama mixed up

The debt is one of my primary voting interest. Neither the Rs or Ds are going to address the topic at all. I’ll vote Libertarian again.

You'd had to vote third party.
If you’re concerned about debt and deficit, and don’t vote republican, you aren’t really concerned about debt and deficit. A vote for any third party is nothing but a vote to ensure that a democrat wins, which can’t possibly improve the debt or deficit. The only place democrats save money is by gutting our military.

2001: ~5.8 trillion debt
2009: ~12 trillion debt
Oof.

So what has the debt/deficit been like under the current administration?

You can't call it saving money if it's spent elsewhere.

Friend, that's a 20th century battle.
The devaluation and default (against the citizens of the nation) that is coming in the future is now set in stone.
The question is now whether those citizens will be permitted to have free speech, own guns, speak English, and worship Jesus.

Here's the bad news. I personally think it's reached a point to where it almost doesn't matter.
Within OUR lifetimes, anything done that will ACTUALLY fix the problem will feel indistinguishable from whatever happens when we finally drive over the debt cliff.
We have baked in so much spending that any real reform that deals with that problem will likely be felt to individual Americans worse than the Great Depression.

And Trump will have it around $24 - $25 trillion in 4 short years.

People my age who tried to tell people back in the 80s that we were headed towards a cliff of basically automated bankruptcy were right. It is now just flat out fact that we were 100% right.
Alas, it's too late now. Way too late.

The problem is, just like a family who has to get its shite together when they've gone deep in debt, there are short term lifestyle consequences to solving it. The family eats a lot more pasta, a lot less steak and eating out is off limits. The caliber of their cars goes down and, no more new clothes bought with credit cards. But, they go through this short term pain because they know the light at the end of the tunnel if they succeed is so much better.
Alas, the US, if it did what HAS to be done, would incur "short term" pain that would be horrendous. It would be the equivalent of telling the family that needs to get its shite together that the parents and the children will just basically die before they see the benefits and will live a life of misery............and maybe the grandkids will reap the rewards!
That's the the political sales pitch we're stuck with if we're all being honest about it.

Tell me again how Trump has cut the debt since he took office? oh that's right he is on pace to do the same thing Obama did with the debt. He must be an anti american communist also ....
Posted on 6/17/19 at 10:55 am to ShortyRob
Yep. Politicians will never risk what it takes to be done to fix the problems. Talking about the deficit or serious solutions will be kept to internet message boards.

Just pointing out this is a bipartisan issue. OP wanted to blame/fear Dems but it is an issue with Government.

Have Trump and the Re-cuck-lican Party spent even a penny's worth of political capital on debt/deficit reduction?
