I have just inherited a few guns and they have a camo tape on them. Over both the stocks, scopes and barrels. I am trying to remove it but it is stuck like Chuck. I heated some with a hair dryer but that isn't really helping either. Does anyone know any secrets or something to spray on it without ruining them? I do not know what kind of tape it is except it has been on the guns for at least 15 years.

Maybe goof off? I use it to remove adhesive on all kinds of things. Not sure if that will damage the finish on the barrel though.

Lighter fluid is pretty good at removing the remains left behind from tape. I can’t see it hurting anything.

You can get goof off with citrus oils and its tamer than the original stuff. I've used kroil on metal parts before.

Hickock45 on youtube uses Ballistol for everything. I'd try that first. I would not use it on wood.
