Best piece of equipment for trimming tops of small trees?

I've got some crepe myrtles and pear trees that need some trimming on the top, as well as an oak and pine tree that needs trimming towards the bottom. The trim work is all between 15 and 24 feet high.
I was thinking about renting a 35 ft Towable Boom Lift from Home Depot for $200. Bad move?

We use ours all the time. It’s great.

For $200 you could buy a decent gas or electric pole saw.
