Ducks vs Chickens in the backyard

I'd like to hear from some people that have had either or both and your experiences.
What I get overall from researching is:
Ducks:
Messier w/ water but don't scratch
Hardier/disease resistant
More "fun"
Larger eggs
Forage more than chickens
Chickens:
The opposite of all the above
More traditional tasting eggs
Go in at night easier than ducks
Eat less
Either way I'll be looking to get maybe 3 until I get in a good routine and feel that I have learned quite a bit.

chicken shite is bad but duck shite is even worse.
plus ducks are more like cats in that they dont listen, never cooperate, and are high maint
whereas chickens are more like dogs in that they will listen and cooperate once trained and are very low maint

I have 4 chickens. We actually enjoy them. The eggs are great. They really aren’t very messy but we let them out of their run everyday. Half of the yard is fenced so they’re confined there.
Also, I clean out the coop once a year and put it in the garden. It’s amazing what that does for the garden.

Supposedly they are richer. Much better for baking.
I haven’t had them personally though. Something I plan on doing soon though.

Have 18 hens and one happy but very tired rooster.
Food and fresh water daily. Have a 30’ x 30’ run, 12’ x 12’ hen house.
Average 10 to 12 eggs daily.
Thought about ducks but a few different people I know that have them say they are really messy. They say there’s a reason they are called “fowl”.

In my neighborhood it doesn't matter which you get - the foxes will just eat them anyway.

Chickens are dirty as hell but the eggs are nice.
They will hunt and eat snakes in your yard. Mine did, anyway.

Do you live in a wooded area/lot? Have any roach problems? Need an alarm to tell you when someone is driving up in your yard?
If you have tree roach issues and want an alarm system....get guineas. Those suckers are roach eating machines...and crickets....not to mention they'll start to holler every time a vehicle pulls up. I never could sneak up on my grandma's place.

Bought 12 duck eggs in Colorado a couple weeks ago when I was there, they are big eggs like jumbo chicken eggs and the yolks are huge, like hardly any white. Outside of that I softboiled then and I couldn’t tell a difference in taste.

No woods, just a wide open 1/2 acre.
We have a lot of bugs. Mostly spiders and a ton of frogs. The whole subdivision is pretty much on an old cow pasture so some of the lower lots hold a good bit of water. I figure they will get a nice bit of protein from hunting them down.
I haven't seen any racoons or foxes. Every once in a while someone will post on the good ole neighborhood FB page about a snake in their yard but haven't seen any on my property.
My main concern would be hawks diving in from above. I have heard a fence can screw up their angles and keep hawks away but don't know how small of an area they mean by that.

Ducks will go out of their way to crap on your concrete.
