Damn shame there’s never been a thread on New York here before.

Dude. New York City is a big place with a lot to do. How about a few more details such as how long you will be there, what y’all like to do, and what you have tentatively planned already? Also, there have been a number of NY threads in the past couple of months. Might want to mine those for specific questions.

Sorry for the inconvenience - I don’t spend a ton of time on here. Glanced at the front page and didn’t see anything.

Will visit the 911 Memorial
Top of the Rock.
Mainly touristy stuff planned -
Just curious if there is a “wish we would have done ____”
Thanks for any input.

No worries. There is a search function that will help you find a lot of useful information.

Supported. There was a recent thread on the OT that was 5 pages if I recall correctly.

The museums are world class. The Natural History Museum, the Met, MOMA, and the Guggenheim are some of the most visited. If you are near the statute of liberty, the museum of the American Indian is free and right there. The tenement museum is also outstanding. The cloisters is very cool and is free with a Met ticket.
If looking for another show, the Metropolitan Opera is world class. You could also do a comedy club for something different, though your kids are too young I guess.
Lots to do outside. Walk the Brooklyn bridge. The highline. Bike in Central Park. Staten Island ferry (cheap with incredible view). Yankee Stadium.
Again, so much to do there.
What show are you going to see?

Thanks for the insight.

Phantom of the Opera is kick arse. Would strongly suggest you see that also.

Girls around that age are often impressed with afternoon tea at the Plaza Hotel. You have to make reservations but our daughter loved it.

Use Google and a hit a few keywords. You’ll get a pretty vast search result.

Agreed. You could also look at breakfast at Tiffany’s. They just started this in the past few months. I’ve never been to either but they’ve both cost me $$.

Take the family to Serendipity 3 on 60th Ave. It's a quirky place that was in the movie Serendipity. You can eat a meal, or just get a dessert. They are famous for Frozen Hot Chocolate, but all of the desserts are top notch.
We were in NYC last week with the kids and went there twice. Expect a wait around lunch time, but it moves fast.

quote:Although crowded...the boat ride/tour to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty (definitely go to the top if possible) is great way to spend half a day.

As mentioned, riding the Staten Island Ferry on cloudless day isn't a bad idea either, then get off a Battery Park and take the 1 train back to the house.
