Is there more excitement around the Pels than 2/20/17?

The day Dell pulled off the Cousins trade and the flappening began. We had the best frontcourt in the NBA and we were about to ride on the Western Conference. As we all know he got hurt and things fell apart when he spurned the Pels for peanuts to chase rings. It was still a fun ride though while it lasted and we gave Portland a solid 4 game dicking without him.
Is now an even more pivotal time in franchise history? Watching all the pieces come together, Getting the number 1 pick and finally putting the people in place to become a winning organization. With or without AD we are riding.

Way more.
This city is Pels nuts right now. My 70 year old mother who has never watched a basketball game that I am aware of asked me about Zion.

I think so. Franchise had a lot of negative publicity. But Gayle has gotten the slap in the face she needed to right the ship.
Hiring Griff was just the first step. I no longer dread reading Woj or sham bombs for the longest time all they were (Insert Pelican here) will miss 3-4 weeks with (Insert Injury here) or AD wants out. Now I am excited about the bombs, because I think it's a great new hire coming next.
I legit think that we have a shot at retaining AD now, a month ago, I would have called you crazy for even suggesting that.

I may be an anomaly there but I hated the trade for Boogie. Thought we gave up way too much with no certainty he would stay. That being said, with competent management, the hype is way bigger today.

The Smoothie King right off campus at LSU had “Cya in NOLA Zion” on their sign. Granted they are a team sponsor but I still was surprised to see it.

Boogie also had a bad rep, fair or not.
Zion has that new car smell still hahahaha

Way more for sure. Zion has pulled in the casual fan like never before. And unlike last time there's additional positive developments surrounding the team that continue to generate good press and will set the foundation for the team to actually KEEP the casual fan interested.
That has been one of the major failures of the organization. Everytime they got some modicum of success (2007, 2014, 2017) and got some buzz around the city, they followed it up with multiple mediocre to bad seasons and people lost interest. I don't think that will be the case this time around.

This is the most excitement ever.
Locals who don’t even follow the NBA are glued to following the Pelicans right now.

After the Boogie trade, some of us were also concerned that the Pels might lead the league in technical fouls. The public didn't/doesn't find Boogie to be a very likeable guy.
Zion has a great smile.

I was running around my house like a mad man when we traded for boogie and when we won the lottery for Zion. I’m more excited for the future now than I was then because of all the other moves that have gone with winning the lottery

I bought season tickets when we got Boogie. I’m happy I kept them now that we have Zion

Just think if we signed boogie post injury. Let's say AD stays and you have Zion/AD/Boogie running the 3-5.

2. We would be no closer to the type of contention that would have made AD want to stay around
3. Boogie might have led to a small improvement, and our chances of winning the lottery would have been lessened

I’m excited to have young guys and build depth through the draft.
