And just bc abortion has utilitarian value doesn’t make it moral.

My only hang up is medical necessity. If "conception" is the starting point, what happens to a an ectopic pregnancy, where the embryo implants in the fallopian tube. Very much a danger to the life of the mother and there is no way for the pregnancy to go to term. Any intervention to save the mother can be construed as terminating a pregnancy. Under the extreme religious version of the pro life stance, that would not be legal.

I have a moral opposition to abortion. But can't quite get to the far end of it where if an egg is fertilized, end of story, no other way to look at it type of mentality. I guess my point is morality isn't as fine a line as some people think it is.....in any situation, not just abortion.

One of Ohio’s bills being pushed through would outlaw private insurance covering anything that prevents the implantation of an egg as well with the language of “drugs or devices used to prevent implantation of a fertilized ovum”. That’s pretty much all practical use of birth control.

That’s absolutely insane. And would have a huge effect on millions of women who use birth control for verified medical reasons (i.e. anemia, endometriosis, PCOS, etc.)
