I've often wondered what A New Hope's Vader/Obi-Wan duel might look like if it had been filmed today. Well, someone else did too and created it.

Star Wars SC 38 Reimagined

I'm not a fan of every decision they made (and some shots look really goofy), but it's still kind of cool to see even if SW is dead to you now.

That was awesome! It reminds me of that Vader vs Emperor fan film fight that was created.

Obi Wan did a lot better at defending himself from that barrel throwing trick than Luke did.

That was rad as frick. I especially like the shot of the red and blue lightsabers reflected in the eyes of Vader’s mask.

That was one thing I never got as I got older.

Why wasn't a stuntman there for Alec Guinness?

Budget was 11 mil. Thats like 46.5 mil today. Low budget for a Sci-Fi film.

As enjoyable as it is, it doesn't work for me. The extended nature implies that Obi-Wan was actually trying to win. He never had that intention. He knew how it was going to end from the beginning-not some last minute decision when he sees Luke.

I can't remember. Was Obi Wans light saber ever shown again after vader took it?

Could be that he was trying to stall Vader long enough to allow the rest of the group to escape.

Yep.

I always took their fight as having a couple motives. I think if the chance came, Obi Wan would have killed Vader. The liklihood of that being the case though was very slim. Secondly, he was definitely stalling Vader so the other's could escape. With his presence there, he new Vader would concentrate on him and not the rest of the shite that was going on.

I don't think he necessarily planned to go out like he did where he did, but once he saw Luke, he knew that was the right time.

I don't believe so. Luke's in RotJ was very similar to Obi Wan's, but obviously wasn't his.
