I know Griffin and the team will keep trying. But Anthony Davis isn't coming back to New Orleans

NBA source:
Arrival of new @PelicansNBA VP David Griffin has not changed Anthony Davis’ stance.
AD still wants trade away from NOLA.
I asked source could things change.
Answer (paraphrasing):
While Griff & AD’s agent Rich Paul have good relationship, don’t except change of heart.

Jake and Fletch both choose 4 hours ago to comment on the AD is staying rumors. Curious. Did the team leak an "update" to the local media to temper expectations? I know on this board at least a lot of people seem to be focused as much on a team with AD as with his potential trade return.

It's not from the team. It's from the same very minor, not in the know source.

Of course AD hasn't moved, he and Griffin haven't had their meeting yet. How is a guy going to change his mind with no new information?

Sure, AD will likely still ask out after the meeting. That is what the odds would say, but to say he hasn't changed his mind prior to the meeting is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen Fletch report and that is saying a lot.

Also, if you think the team would leak info to Fletcher and Jake Madison to pull in the expectations of 9 people on a fringe message board..... you might think a little too highly of how much the team cares about people who probably don't even contribute 10k combined to their bottom line. No offense, but that aint the kind of stuff Griffin and Co. are worried about right now.

Fletch is a clown. I don’t pay any attention to him.

I do respect Jake though.

I mean know one really knows for sure. No one has a time machine. But it’s the most likely outcome.

Anyone who believes otherwise is probably fooling themselves. However, it’s unlikely that Jake or Fletch are getting any info at all from ADs camp. They would use someone national. And griffin wouldn’t either. So it’s some minor source.

And really we’ve been focused lately on if AD stays because we’ve beat the trade talk to death and the meeting approacheth.

Madison is just stating his opinion as far as I can tell, unless he’s said elsewhere that he’s reporting what others have told him. Fletcher is in a position to have others tell him things which I believe he’s doing here

neither matters until Davis tells griffin what he wants. And I’ll say this...even if he is wavering it will require some maturity and self reflection on davis’ part to stand up and face the music if he decides to stay, and I don’t think he has it in him. At this point the path of least resistance is to stick with his trade demand and that’s what he’s going to do

So I guess I should probably chime in here.

--I know who most of Fletch's sources are. I know who told him this one. It was someone from the team. I wouldn't call it minor.

--(Worth mentioning that after Mac and Fletch's yapping yesterday and once Fletch confirmed (he is correct) some of the others who will be at the meeting that Mac made his twitter account private and deleted that tweet.)

--What I tweeted was separate from Fletch. Not from a source intending to get the info out there. I'm just asked about AD returning A LOT.

--I'm obviously not going to go into who I use as sources, but do talk to people in AD's camp and have for a while. I also talk to people with the Pels.

--In terms of Griff and AD. They have not sat down for a big in person face to face meeting. That's happening soon. But they have communicated (calls, texts, etc.) many times per week. Griff is trying to sell him on his vision, plan moving forward, and moves he's already made (Aaron Nelson). And AD is totally unmoved. It's not like he doesn't know what's going on or that things are different than they were before.

--Maybe sitting down in person changes things. Maybe some more gets done before they do that moves AD a bit. If anything, it's good that AD is even listening to Griff after how things were before he was hired. But I'm not counting on it.

--At the end of the day, yes, it's not really a big surprise that AD hasn't changed his mind. But the thing to take away is he knows what's going on with the team, has communicated with Griff, and still hasn't changed his mind. That is what's worth talking about.

Does anyone really think that Raja Bell and Trajan Langdon will make even the slightest difference in AD’s mind?
