Honestly, 247 stars aren't consistent. Their own rating system isn't consistent.

Players are first grouped qualitatively with a star rating, then given a numerical rating based on their future potential, and finally ranked according to these numerical ratings.

Their 5 star rating process contradicts itself. In the same paragraph says "Top 30", "composite above 98" and "top 32 to simulate draft" Sampah and Burton are above 98, but they are ranked 32 and 35 nationally, so 247 gives them 4 stars. Sampah, at a minimum, should be a 5 star on 247, he is ranked 32 nationally. Also, I would think the composite would carry more weight than the rankings.

Also, only the top 28 are given 5 stars right now. Shouldn't it be the top 32?

I put very little faith in the 247 star rankings. An amateur guide at best. Bama will get a commit from a “highly” ranked 4* and the next week he is a 5. Ranking change the last last week before signing. Zero credibility.
