Long story short, this guy I know is bitching to me about additional fees LSU adds to tuition. It made me think, and I started to agree with him.

Can anyone go through this list and point out one fee that is not complete bullshite. What is going on at LSU? State schools man, state schools. Especially in a corrupt state as Louisiana.

breakdown of fee bills for a summer semester below (only 1 class, 3 hours):

Typical Louisiana, creates TOPS, eventually tries to make it a needs based program, and completely ends around it by racking up the fees.

$356 worth of Lazy River fees for one summer class. Yikes.

Oh wait you have to take 6 hours over the summer to use the UREC for “free”

Student Excellence Fee

Can I just choose to be a mediocre student and save a couple hundred bucks?

I had a "full tuition scholarship" to LSU Law. The fees were outrageous.

In mild defense of the fees: the blame is TOPS.

Because the state is on the hook for tuition increases, they block them.

For fricks sake, wasn’t it posted just today about how LSU’s cost of attendance has it as one of the best value colleges in the US?

What difference does it really make if the charge is called tuition or an “academic excellence fee?”

Don’t need legislative approval to raise fees, unlike tuition.

1 class at LSU in 2019 = $1,178

Back in 1999, I think that paid for a full time tuition at Nicholls, with fees it may have totaled around 1,500.

Back then, Nicholls May have had only 3 or 4 secondary fees.

I am getting old.

I informed LSU I wasn’t actually going to go to class in person, but get notes from a friend. They let me wave the building use fee
