What is the goal of the NYT spy story??

My thoughts are that what we are about to learn is so bad, it made sense to reveal such a serious allegation as a redirection effort.
What I do not believe is that the NYT woke up yesterday and decided to do a 180 and actually report on the abuse of power shiteshow.
I know they have a motive....just not sure what it is

It is a strange circumstance that they did go 180 degrees after the past two years.

To sell papers. They realized that at some point this story couldn’t be ignored. They “scooped” everyone.
Also, I believe libs will play it as political revenge and try to cry foul or just say they believed their “sources” and given the gravity of the claims, what they did was justified ei. Play the hero.

Rush said this story came out because they are trying to get ahead of the Horowitz report and they are getting scared.

My thoughts as well.
They're just trying to head off all of the bad news that's coming.

Limited modified hangout?
They know they are screwed so why not release the data in a way that favors them.

Maybe they know what’s coming and want to be able to say they were one of the first outlets to start running the stories. That, or the reporter is getting fired for wandering off the reservation.

As people have mentioned here, they’re getting ahead of it to sugarcoat what’s going to be reported.
My summary of the NYT’s article was their admitting of the Trump campaign being spied on with an informant being implanted into the campaign circle.
The way they’re sugarcoating it is by saying that it was for the country’s protection against the Russians and they didn’t tell the campaign, because they didn’t want to “damage” his election efforts.
We’ve come a long way from Trump being called a liar for saying Obama tapped his wires in March of 2017.

Theyre trying to get ahead of the avalanche of negative public sentiment against the Hussein crime syndicate.

Motive?
Normalize otherwise completely traitorous, totalitarian and otherwise dishonest activities of the Obama Administration, and the Democrat Party in General.
They’re gonna ease into an admission that Obama spied on private citizens for no other reason but that he wanted to maintain control of the masses, so they can say he did it because he cared and for a good reason, to save us from ourselves and Muh Russia.
Like any abuser, they will tell us it was for our own good.
frick Obama. And frick the New York Times.

First of all lets set the stage:
The NYTs is a mouthpiece for the FBI as WaPo is a mouthpiece for the CIA as CNN is a mouthpiece for the State Department and ODNI. This is not a strict relationship but in general this is the relationship. These media outlets publish favorable media content in exchange for access. That is the quid pro quo.
So...
I posted his yesterday and I believe it's still true:
Okay, lets put this into perspective.
The initial Carter Page FISA warrant was obtained on July 31, 2016. So any spying conducted after July 31st the FBI will claim that is was done legally.
There is a problem though; the Carter Page FISA warrant was obtained illegally by lying to the FISC court (omitting exculpatory evidence and not following the Woods procedure). Acquiring the FISA warrant would have been the right thing to do to spy legally on team Trump but FBI illegally acquired the FISA warrant.
But the question still remains even if they were spying legally, why did the FBI not notify the Trump campaign that he Russians were trying to infiltrate the Trump campaign? But I think we all know the answer. The FBI was not really interested in the Russians they were just interested in framing Trump. And an easy way to infiltrate the Trump team is to compromise inexperienced team Trump members (like George Papadapoulous) especially on foreign soil were U.S. 4th amendment and civil rights laws do not fully apply.

You see what NYTs is doing, right?
Oh, but the FBI used spies and entrapment methods with good intentions because of the RUSSIANS!

It’s this. That way, when the actual report or declassification happens the media will gloss over this by saying “we already knew about Azra Turk, but what new information did we learn today?” Then they will discuss something revealed that isn’t nearly as bad while trying to justify it.
They will use those exact words

So when the IG report comes out, they can say this is old news and the American people are ready to move on.

Crossfire Hurricane "officially" started on July 31, 2016
The initial FISA warrant was obtained/signed on October 21, 2016

The media is in the process of making the most important decision in the history of their organizations. Do we turn on Obama?
