He has heard the noise. He knows a bunch of people were pissed when he was named tomorrow night’s starter. He’s got a chip on his shoulder to prove he can get the job done...and I think he will. Let’s Geaux!

I don’t think that many people are mad he’s starting.

I hope so. I like Hilliard but if were being honest a Friday night SEC pitcher needs to be able to throw 3 pitches for strikes when you get to the 3rd and 4th times through the lineup. Not sure if Hilliard can do that. I hope I’m wrong though

You obviously didn’t see all the people saying “Why move Hess back to the pen and start Hilliard?” “Hess gives us a much better chance than he does” “Hilliard got rocked by Florida. Ole Miss is gonna do the same thing!”

There were like 3 posters in that thread saying that. And about 50 people disagreed

I'm hoping he can get back to last year's level of performance

Lots of threads all season suggesting moving Hess back to a relief role. People have been excited and hopeful about Hilliard for a while. I think you may be projecting.

Hope he proves me wrong but I think Peterson or Beck would be better options.

And Peterson has been pretty touchable this season.

I’m speechless of the criticism just shameful.

Peterson was almost unhitable. This season he's been hit a bit. I'm not saying he's bad but he isn't dominant the way he was. I'm not ashamed to have noticed this, especially since the coaches have, too. Evidenced by Fontenot moving up as the featured closer.

He'll do great until CPM leaves him too long.

Here’s to hoping Hilliard can overcome bad coaching
