You know good for these people. It’s a good paying job and so what if you have to put in a lot of hours. Allows them to live a good life and afford a home.

All you hear is only jobs available are service jobs, minimum wage and people just bitch about this economy all the time.

And I’m guessing they aren’t bitching about paying student loans or asking they be forgiving.

No nerve touched, just checking you on your classism as I’m no plant baw, but I’ll take a plant worker’s class over a plaintiff atty’s daily

You can honestly take off whenever you want, assuming you aren’t in a turnaround. I don’t have to be back until Monday.

Oil prices =/= plant job stability

ETA - for the sake of clarity, I'm stating oil prices dropping don't negatively impact plant workers. It's often the exact opposite.

Oil prices dropping often times increases margins for refiners.

So in theory,
Homer Simpson shouldn’t have been poor since he worked at a nuclear power plant.

Not entirely true. Off shore had huge layoffs, the refineries here in Sulphur/Lake Charles stayed steady.

You are thinking of service companies.

Someone did a rundown showing how much Homer had made, was a millionaire a few times over. Forget the specifics.

Plants are not all apples to apples.

Their respective industries differ and the quotes point to oil/energy......and at some point, they are absolutely affected along some timeline.

I appreciate plant baws. Pretty sure the OT would shut down without talk of them.

So, you have the flexibility of coming in at 10am and leaving at 4:30pm today? Then, working from home tomorrow because the baby is sick?

Say what you want, you punch a clock and it’s not white-collar flexible. The money is great but the other metrics aren’t on the same playing field as those manned by the educated group.

Plant workers are paid well because being around that shite every day takes years off your life. I’m around it every so often

Shitty smells, phosgene, leaking H2S and hundreds of more chemicals

Nobody would sit in those plants around that shite for $40k per year
