Change socks often. When the socks get wet from your sweat thats what causes the blisters. Change Socks often.

Get multiple pairs of good socks (smart wool). Change often and dry in the interim

It'll be religious alright.
As in, "Holy shite at the mosquitoes.", "GD that's a big snake!", "It's hotter than Hades out here...", and "Why on God's green earth did I decide to do this?"

What is the total distance and are you walking it all at once? I see 62 miles mentioned, that isn’t terrible if you are walking with support and carrying nothing.
You need to be more concerned with protection from chafing than shoes. Your regular shoes are fine for walking that distance if they are reasonably new, but you won’t be going anywhere if your junk starts chafing on mile 20.
If you are dead set on comfy shoes I run in Hoka and they are great.

This is if your old shoes are bad.
Thick soled pair of Altras, Insole from yoursole, superfeet, etc.., then some nice non cotton socks, maybe even a dual layer wright sock.

Be careful. Patting yourself on the back could result in rotator cuff soreness.

In order for it to be a legit religious walk you have to go barefoot.

I take off a week every year and hike 50-60 miles on the Appalachian trail. Just bring a few pair of wool socks. Change when they get wet, they’ll dry quickly. If you’re prone to blisters, look into some thin toe socks to wear as a liner
