Would need to be fleshed out in the next episode, but there’s enough elements to support it

Jon saw Arya going towards the Godswood, but they were pinned down by the ice dragon

He stands and yells “Gooo, go go go”, sacrificing himself so Arya can get there

We see Bran look away from the NK, NK cocks his head, then the hair on he WW moves

I’m sure this isn’t what happened, but would be a good explanation and fit Jon’s character

ETA: I can’t tell if he’s yelling go, but it doesn’t sound like what someone yelling at a dragon would be yelling

I noticed this on the rewatch...

When the NK walks up to Bran they lock eyes. Then, bran gives the NK and look up and down. The NK sees this & it appears, through body language, and replies "dude, what?"

I want to think that was Bran looking for a weak spot in the NK's armor so Arya could know where to stick him.

Did anyone notice this?

Sorry but I don’t follow

What exactly is the theory you are offering?

That Jon distracted the dragon?

Bran warged into Arya or spoke to her in some telepathic way?

I think everyone is overthinking the shite out of this.

I actually set a timer on my phone on my re-watch.

From the time Arya leaves the room with the Hound and Melisandre to when the Night King and his Bros get to the Godswood is roughly 16-1/2 minutes. By the time he gets done killing Theon it's roughly 19 minutes.

There is plenty of time for Arya to get there first and hide in the trees in the perimeter of the circle of wight walkers or to just lay down among the dead that scattered around and just wait for the Night King to arrive.

Once he gets there, she just gets up, runs in, leaps, and the rest you know.

I agree completely. By this point in the show you can really tell that the NK has become extremely arrogant. You can really see this when Dany tries to kill him with Dragon fire from Drogon and he just smirks at her for even trying.

I feel like he had ordered his WW commanders to stand back and let him kill Bran and "have his moment" on his own. Thats why it seems like there's no rush to stop Arya when she comes running by because they assume because of the NK's arrogance that he can handle his own, especially against a small girl.

the fact that fans are having to write the story to explain what happened in the last episode shows how bad the episode was

But how did you account for the slow-mo walking?

He definitely did. They let Theon have a clear path to him just before that which shows they were all standing down.

Yeah, to me it comes off as a form of rationalization.

I took this as Bran had seen the future. He knew all along how this was going to be resolved. The NK paused for a moment, surprised at Bran's reaction to him.

Man, there's a whole lotta mental gyrating going on so people can reconcile with how shitty and lazy this episode was.

Yes.

Anything they can do or come up with to make peace with this shite. People simply won't allow themselves to believe it was bad.

Yeah I lol’ed at that too. It hurt me because I’ve been on the side of GCT in most threads, but he forgot that things we see can be happening concurrently and not chronologically

Equal amount going so people can justify how shitty they thought the episode was.

sure it is

this whole thing boils down to some people like it and some didn't

neither are right are wrong and both sides are throwing completely wild and off base shite to justify their positions. If anything it's kind of beautiful because a show about a fantasy based political kingdom has bread a rampant political type following for both sides.

They probably also didn't know she could turn invisible, out run a cheetah, and out jump a flying squirrel while being telepathically communicated an exact armor weakness stab point by her omnipresent telepathic Professor X brother in a wheel chair and luck out that the Night King didn't snap her neck immediately or catch her by the arms.
