Couldn't even bother with a link?

LINK

quote:

The acceleration in real GDP growth in the first quarter reflected an upturn in state and local government spending, accelerations in private inventory investment and in exports, and a smaller decrease in residential investment. These movements were partly offset by decelerations in PCE and nonresidential fixed investment, and a downturn in federal government spending. Imports, which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, turned down.

That uptick in spending for public construction didn't even occur to me. Great number!

Is that the real number?

At the rate the estimate has been growing the last few weeks they should have waited until next week and it would have been 4 and a half.

You need to change your expectations.

Your mouth has put a large target on your back and mornings like this hurt your credibility.

nah, this was a huge beat, like another poster said

and it has significant implications about what we'll see in quarters going forward, but not on any underlying trends in what drives growth

i know nobody actually wants substantive discussion, though. we want to cheerlead

I think we all enjoy substance.

Unfortunately, yours was wrong in this case.
