Inspired by Tiger’s win at the Masters, Peterson quit his job to focus on a return to professional golf.

I always liked John, and followed him while he was on tour - but after a while, the "attention-seeking" stuff kinda got old. I mean I guess he technically did beat Cantlay in college, but to call him out like that isn't the best look.

"Sometimes you've got to take a step back to realize what you had," Peterson told Moscana. "I was in an office for seven months, and it was fine when I started, I was paying the bills.
This mother fricker must be dumb as a box of rocks if it took actually working in an office for 7 months for him to realize that playing golf and getting paid for it was better.

I like John and played with him a bunch in Gulf States tournaments as a kid, but man he needs to just pick something and stick with it....the flip flopping is killing me.
That being said, I wish him the best of luck and hope that he can return to form and secure a tour card for a long time.

Even Brett Favre is like 'CMON MAN!'

cue the people who say you dont know how hard the professional athlete grind is.
yea, traveling to elite country clubs in nice places every weekend while collecting comps and slaying myrtle beach poontang sounds like a real grind
eta: good luck john. hope it works out for you!

I was listening to the Moscona interview where he discussed this. The context is key. He was making the point that he has the proven ability to compete with these guys and lost the passion for the game through the grind.

We went through this when he was "retiring".

Every coastline, all around the country, is full of guys who have "tour" talent. It takes a lot more to stay out there, And a lot more than that to actually win and prosper.

but what about all that beloved family time, John?!?

this baw sucks. It's like his fourth "coming out of retirement." He's hungry for attention and his shtick is old. I hope he doesn't get his card back and he's forced into "retirement."

All LSU golf fans are concerned about at the moment is Sam Burns and Philip Barbaree not making double bogeys.

Must be troubles at home.
Momma is either tired of his crap or the farming/realtor money isn't affording her the lifestyle she had grown accustomed to.
Or maybe she wants him back on the road so she can go back to opening them legs for all the big boys in Ft. Worth.

I never even considered this. That is definitely the reason. Thanks.

Cantlay has a win and like 20 top tens in 75 starts. Peterson had close to 100 starts on Tour and only 2 top tens. I think Peterson is overrating his ability to compete out there. Just because Peterson beat Cantlay once in college doesn’t mean he has the game to compete with these guys, there’s a reason he lost his card and had to retire.

This guy gets too much attention for having a career high ranking of 129

the dudes on tour have tour level minds, which hardly anyone has.
Very, very few can handle the pressure.
Golf is as much mental as it is physical.

I remember the stink when the USGA left him off the Walker Cup team. It’s becoming blatantly obvious they made the right choice. What a tool.
