its not a stretch to say O had more job security with alleva than he will with woodward. That's not even a shot at O, its generally true for most major sport coaches when a new AD comes in.

7-5, 8-4 the then I hope his seat would be scalding. With as much talent as LSU has coming back this year LSU would have to complete implode

I think if he has that kind of record 2020 would be a make or break year for him. I think we'll be a lot better than that this year though.

It’s going to be hilarious when this board implodes after we score 3 points against Bama with the new ‘Saints’ offense

when it comes to alabama and LSU actually scoring points against them, I expect more of the same. shut outs.

That being said, we are primed for a great year and if Orgeron delivers he'll prove everyone wrong and Joe Alleva right. I hope that happens.

I dont thin kit proves Joe Alleva right at all. It's not like Alleva ever wanted to hire O, he just kind of failed his way into it.

Alleva also had to be sold on expanding the support staff, recruiting budget, and delayed multiple facilities upgrades. The compliance reforms and amended donor relations are hot topics right now. Again, Alleva was a bean counter who only cared about maximizing profits. He viewed a good season in terms of ticket sales, and the extent to which he cared about wins and losses was the point at which they affected those ticket sales.

There’s a lot more to it than on the book salaries. Miles had some of the highest paid coaching staffs in the country but was undermined for years in other more subtle ways. Bama is what it is because they’re a well oiled machine, from the richest booster to the chick pulling faxes on signing day they are a unified entity all working for a common goal. Woodward understands that, and tried briefly to get aTm on board with it. Orgeron may prove himself not the right guy, but it won’t have anything to do with him not being Woodward’s hire. I get that some on the rant get a half chub at the thought of Orgeron getting fired, but I guarantee you no one is happier to have Woodward than him.

What has happened at LSU to prove this?

9-4, 10-3, team this year is primed for a great season....

It's f*cking pathetic people like you exist who would rather see Orgeron fail than LSU win just to say "I was right!"

My view point on Orgeron has always remained the same. In basketball, if a guy takes a poor shot and it just happens to go in, that shouldn't mean it's suddenly not a bad shot. It's a bad shot regardless of the outcome.

Same thing applies with Orgeron, I'm happy with where the program is headed, and I don't think it's disputable that the program is on an upward trend and is in a significantly better place than it was just 2-3 years ago. But it was still a poor hire, and even if Orgeron wins a title in the next 2-3 years it's still a bad hire. LSU has just gotten EXTREMELY lucky to date that it's worked out.

Why would O feel threatened? He knows the expectations and so far he's been meeting them.

Which is just a useless factoid without context. Alleva didn’t have enough gas in the tank to protect himself, much less Orgeron. Orgeron wasn’t any better off with the walking PR distaster for a boss than he is now with a guy who actually wants to see the program succeed.

That's what I'm saying. If O doesn't win 11 games, THEN his seat will be hot.

Being a questionable hire doesn't mean performance is invalidated though.

People questioned Clemson hiring Dabo Swinney, and continued to even a few years into his tenure there (he went 6-7 his 2nd full season there, 2.5 seasons in). Is anyone going back and saying "Well it was still a bad hire on paper soooo"

I realize we're still early on in O's tenure here, but if he DOES have a good season this next season, it's probably time to stop caring about it not being a "good hire" and just enjoy the success at that point and hope it continues under him.

Just personally, I dont get the people ACTIVELY rooting for him to fail, and they dont even make it anything but plainly obvious

Was O the hire we wanted? Hell no. Will I care if he wins a lot games and has some great seasons? Nope.

......I just want to see Ed's face.

Ed should be smiling his arse off getting a Louisiana boy as a boss. A guy who just paid $7.5 million per year and $75 million guaranteed over 10 years.

Will Wade would be the face to look for. Alleva is the one who hired him and he is facing possible NCAA sanctions.

Our fans so hate JA and CEO, that they want to see the LSU football team go in the crapper, just to get rid of CEO and to prove that JA was "wrong"?

As a fan, I was one of many who wasn't happy with the O hire. I thought he was our guy short term ... but seeing how he is recruiting well and bringing in staff that he wants to run the schemes he wants, and has the football program overall looking in a positive direction, I'm happy to be proven wrong. I'd love to see him win a Natty. Would love to see what the media would have to say about that!

if you're a fan of something, you shouldn't root for it to fail because you don't like the coach and want him to be removed from his job. thats asinine and counterproductive.

Woodward and O will get along well. They are both Louisiana and LSU guys first. Their relationship will probably go much more positively than anyone here would expect.

If he wins a championship of some kind maybe he can get some scratch like that one day. Heck, maybe if he can just muster a point against Bama. Just one single solitary point.

Like I said - Eaux will probably have a shite eating grin on his face.

I guess the OP just likes seeing the football Head Coach smiling and so happy he can hardly contain himself.
