I dont think the issue is knowledge of baseball, but just the emotion involving LSU Baseball, makes people crazy.

LSU baseball fans are generally very knowledgeable about the game. The ship that Skip built made people pay attention.
Everyone and their momma thinks they know football, so I discount that sport in terms of knowledge.
I go back to basketball, because even though everyone likely played basketball in their backyard or recreational level, there is a huge discord between organized basketball knowledge and laymen knowledge.
