Place was always busy. Not the best food, but atmosphere was nice and offered a good happy hour.

They got rid of their happy hour and tried to go upper upscale

Our bartender there last time we visited pretty much said this was gonna happen

Thought that place would have closed long before now.

I think when you price it as high as it appears to be, sometimes, putting up a mid tier chain just won't cut it. Applebees, kona grill, lava cantina. I wouldn't doubt if somebody would put an olive garden in there, and it fails.

I think it's too high priced for a good restaurant that is non-chain. So all the franchise money can open one, but no one wants to eat at chili's v. 2.0. So eventually, it fails.

Maybe, come down on the rent, and allow something good and local to come there. But that won't happen.

Me and friends were just talking last week about how this place had zero chance of lasting another year.

The meatloaf was good. Haven't been back since it was removed from the menu.
The physical building is super nice. One of the nicest places in town.

A Chinese super buffet needs to open in its place. Or something equally original, like a sports bar.. called Walk-In's.

Best carrot cake ever.

Other than that, it sucked. Smelled like a sewer in there last time I went.

At one time, Kona happy hour was solid. All day Sunday, 3 dollar margaritas, food was 50% or more offer, etc. I remember two people getting out for under $35.00 with 4 drinks.

However, prices crept up, clientele and food got worse, staff got atrocious, and the place started feeling dirty. Oh, and the Baton Rouge restaurant scene improved dramatically.

Kona is a creature of the past.

I used to drink way too much at Kona happy hour back in the day. I remember liking the avocado egg rolls, but mostly the place was the definition of mediocre.

It wasn’t that good either.

Are there people that went to Perkins Rowe just to eat at Kona? Because that’s crazy to me
