I always wondered how our fighting spirit would've been if we faced the casualties that France faced during ww1. The only thing they lacked in morale was machinegunners pointing their barrells at.

Cowards? Read about Dien bien Phu. Heavily outnumbered and slaughtered Viet Minh until they couldn't fight anymore. They were screwed over by their leadership.

They probably have the greatest military history of any country in the world and have a direct lineage going back nearly 1500 years.
Clovis, Martel, Charlemagne, William the Conqueror, most of the major Crusader generals, Phillip Augustus, Charles of Anjou, Jeanne d’Arc, Philippe Villiers, Henry IV, Richelieu, Rochambeau, Lafayette, Napoleon (and his numerous gifted subordinates), Foch, LeClerc, DeGaulle, on and on.
