We should be funding government through a national sales tax.
Income taxes are theft.

A fantastic first step would be to make people actually pay their taxes.
Employers should not be able to withhold taxes. Eveyone should have to write a check. That would certain make you think more carefully about how your taxes are spent

But "muh poorz"
Repealing the income tax would have to come first, otherwise we would end up with both.

Think of how much waste would be omitted by getting rid of that irs organization. Next, the BOE, the EPA, the usps, and any other wasteful spending federal entity. Over half of those bums are only there to collect a check and then a government pension.

a national sales tax.

It would, but I think that's what our shallow, hedonistic, zombified society needs.

Quite the opposite.
Price of goods remains the same after Fairtax implementation.

A study by the Government Accountability Office estimated that the federal tax system imposed efficiency costs on the U.S. economy of two to five percent of GDP. Under the FairTax, within ten years average Americans will be at least 10 percent and probably 15 percent better off than they would be under the current system. That translates to an increase of $3,000 to $4,500 per household, per year.

Give me your money and I'll give it out in your name. That's laughable but when it's called taxes people believe it

Without an income tax how would people survive with no tax return?
Posted on 4/15/19 at 11:40 am to weagle99
I'm against all taxation, but if we're going to have taxes, they sould be collected when we voluntarily spend our money, not taken by force when we earn it.

They have income taxes too. That gets factored into the price if things.
Truth be told, it's a little intimidating telling you of all people that very important detail.

The problem in Europe is they have both a VAT and an income tax.

Exactly.
Fairtax goes into effect after the 16th is repealed.

The U.S. economy looks like Shangri-La compared to Europe's economy. But, sure, let's be more like Europe....

Groceries should also be exempt from the fair tax.

How is having a national sales tax and no income tax ‘being more like’ a place with a sales tax and income tax?

Russian, it's their overall tax burden, governments' spending and regs that are causing most of that.
If they got rid of their income taxes, and only had vat taxes, do you really believe their economies would still be stuck in the mud?
