Possible Wade meeting Monday; Lipsey and Williams may be working together to oust Alleva

This is from Hayride/McKay Friday, so TIFWIW. But I found the reference to a Richard Lipsey-James Williams alliance to fire Alleva and the reasoning behind it to be mighty interesting (pressure from Lipsey, Lipsey putting together buyout $, Williams pissed at Alleva, Morial/Ausberry connection, etc.).
Also mentioned the LSU-Wade meeting is set for this week and may happen as early as Monday.

Some $600 million of the $1.5 billion fundraising goal is supposed to come from the Tiger Athletic Foundation, meaning 40 percent of the intended capital raise has to come from the school’s athletic donors. And to say those are furious about the athletic director is grossly insufficient to describe the situation.
Let’s remember that a couple of weeks ago former Board of Regents chairman Richard Lipsey, who 40 years ago founded the Tiger Athletic Foundation and has been a big-money donor ever since, publicly called for Alleva and Alexander’s ouster. Lipsey on Thursday morning put out a quite cryptic tweet on the subject of Wade’s status.
This wouldn’t make a lot of sense until you put it together with information we’ve gleaned from our sources, which is as follows: Lipsey is apparently working with LSU Board of Supervisors chair James Williams on an ouster of Alleva which may, if Lipsey is successful, happen within days if not hours.
Alleva’s contract has about 15 months left on it, and he makes in the neighborhood of $750,000 per year. That would make a buyout worth something just south of a million dollars, which we’re told Lipsey has put together.
quote:
All of this came to the notice of LSU’s fans because of a Dellenger article that appeared at SI on the day after LSU defeated Vanderbilt in the regular-season finale, the first game of Wade’s suspension. At that game Alleva was positively raked over the coals by the 14,000 LSU fans in attendance, and the Dellenger piece read as an attempt by Alleva to message that it was Williams, rather than Alleva, responsible for the decision to suspend the coach.
Which meant he more or less hung Williams out to dry, and likely put Williams in the line of fire from the fans. One would imagine the board chairman didn’t appreciate that much, and might well have decided he’d get on board with the idea of unloading Alleva.
And there is more to this, which is that Williams has lots of political connections to the New Orleans political elite, including the Morial clan – which is something LSU assistant athletic director Verge Ausberry shares, having married a Morial. So by moving Alleva and installing Ausberry as an interim AD Williams may well have pulled off a significant political coup which would have the benefit of pleasing a large number of the fans and potentially helping to kick-start that moribund capital campaign.

Would have never guessed that the Game of Thrones final season was starting like this

Alleva should have never been hired. His stock had to be way down after the Duke debacle. The next AD must be pro LSU sports and understand it’s a money maker (football). You want that stock to go up and make a better return on the investment.
Make smarter decisions.

Mark my words. Woodward will be the next LSU AD. Sounds like the guys up north are ready for change.

Please, please let this happen. I'm so sick of this soap opera that Alleva and co. have made.
He has to go. I give the benefit of the doubt all the time but this guy has burned not only the fans, but the players on any number of athletic teams for LSU so many times and he continues to try to cover his own arse instead of being concerned with the best interest of whatever athletic program we're talking about.
He makes appearances at events like we should worship the ground he walks on, like he's some sort of celebrity. Which to me, considering his past behavior, is ridiculous.
I must say, if he wanted fame, he certainly has it. Probably not in the way he wanted though.
The thing that really did it for me was when he was literally booed out of the PMAC after the basketball win over Yale. I mean he caved and showed his true colors for everyone, not just LSU fans, everyone to see.

I'd love for this to happen, but I just don't see Woodward coming here to work for a clown like Alexander. He's too smart to play that game.
But perhaps Woodward would consider coming home if he was offered the president job.

Alleva had no right getting a job after what he did at Duke.. and he sure needs to be gone after this.
I will rejoice the day that a-hole is gone from LSU.

I’ll believe it when I see it. Y’all been saying this chit for over a year now

I'm pretty sure no one wants to receive a "state of LSU athletics" letter from Alleva referencing the Sweet 16 appearance.

Why does everyone have buyouts? What happened to the good ole days when you got fired you didn’t get shite other than unemployment

If this Williams guy is the one who called for the suspension why would he be pissed Alleva wanted it known. Sounds like Williams wants to make decisions but not be responsible for the outcome. Seems like a bad choice for chairman.

Interesting article for sure. I’m happy to know there are still people left that want to see the school succeed

Though it's not like people were happy when he was hired.

The old broad in the blue cracks me up. I wish someone would make a viral meme of her. She's great.

It has been four hours since I read this post, is the bitch gone yet?

Williams just went from heel to baby face.

Am I the only concerned if this is true? Williams has an agenda and putting a competent AD in place is probably not the main point. Are we going to be looking at getting the best person available for the job or will it be be more important to put someone in place who has the right set of values (read that SJW) or who meets certain other criteria not at all related to athletics?
I know it seems we couldn't get much worse than Alleva but LSU has a history of "hold my beer" moments. Maybe that's my own distorted perceptions. I honestly think I trust Williams less than Alleva.

If they are working together, it’s only because Earring wants to replace Alleva and Wade with someone darker, and his boss JBE thinks that will help him with his main block of voters
