What happened to goth subculture?

Growing up and going to high school in the 90's, goth was def a thing.
I ask because the other day I was at the mall and I noticed the Hot Topic, and walking by it, it didn't seem goth really at all anymore. I would describe it as slightly alternative, but def. not goth.
And it got me to thinking how the 90's goth culture seems to have almost entirely gone away.
It obviously attracted almost exclusively freaks and weirdos and just became a way for them to have their own clique and identity I guess, nothing new, people have been attempting to be rebels and forming counter-cultures and what not.
It even slightly hit the mainstream. You had popular movies like The Crow and The Craft which clearly drew heavy inspiration from youth goth culture. It grew big enough to mock, the famous SNL sketches Goth Talk and of course the goth kids on South Park.
Going through your day to day life, whether school or in the mall or at the movies, whatever, you'd occasionally see these kids, they were hard to miss. I don't see them anymore.
So what happened? Just a fad that got old? What do all the weirdo kids do now? If anything I think they've gone the opposite direction, now it's all about bright colors, pink and blue hair, and being genderfluid otherkin and shite.

A lot them moved on to emo and scenecore in the early 00s. Goth still exists though.

They morphed into transgenders

Went from goth, to emo, to scene, today kids are just on paxil and celexa, so they cant really express their inner darkness.

It evolves and people change.
A lot of the emo-ish hot topic ones, are into a music now that is a sniffling bastardization of a great sub genre.
It's called DSBM. Dark suicidal black metal. A lot of pussies get together to talk about misanthropic views and hating life. Which was partly created for those kids, mainly in part with this myths and mythos about Mayhem. Which doesnt sit right.
Because the true Satanist decides of his own life and death and prefers to go out with a smile on his lips when he has reached his peak in life, when he has accomplished everything, and aim to transcend this earthly existence. But it is completely un-satanic to end one's own life because one is sad or miserable. The Satanist dies strong, not by age, disease or depression, and he chooses death before dishonor. Death is the orgasm of life, So live life accordingly, as intense as fricking possible.

I saw a jiggalator (or whatever those idiots are called that listen to ICP) walking parade and convention during Mardi Gras this year. I'd consider them goth. Just about the dumbest looking fat people I've ever seen

They all joined Antifa. They just don't call it goth anymore

They are pretty much the exact opposite of goth.

It is alive and thriving in most major cities. I'm not a person anyone would consider a part of goth, rave, hip-hop, hippy, metal or any other social type culture, but I am a chameleon that enjoys having a good time regardless of the "theme" and know for a fact that everyone has an inner weirdo! In 2016-2017 I was in Phoenix area for work and just stumbled upon a group of friends heavy into the fetish and goth scene. Short and sweet I was introduced to the "Love House" in Paradise Valley just outside of Scottsdale and all I can say about that is HOLY shite!! Folks should just try to stop being judgemental with their overly puritanical views of right, wrong or normal and let people be what makes them happy.
