The Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission voted unanimously Wednesday, April 3, to allow Larsen Family, LP a Special Use permit for property at 700 Cotton Street, the old Arlington Hotel. The limited partnership’s stated use for the property is for the “Every Man a King” distillery. Every Man a King refers to a movement started by then-US Senator Huey P. Long. His national organization called the ‘Share the Wealth Society’ used ‘Every Man a King’ as its motto.

the upscale project will include a large outdoor patio space on land adjacent to the property, a new building that will house distillery operations, and the total rehab of the historic Arlington into space for gift shops, tasting rooms, and other commercial uses.

The building has been vacant since the 90s. Its caught fire several times, been used by the homeless and the roof has collapsed. Its gonna be a hell of a rehab project. Not much detail on the distillery portion of things as this project was just approved.

Load up on hard stuff then get your dick sucked in the bathroom across the street.

Seriously though, it sounds pretty cool.

There's a gay bar right across the street.

If they want this project to be "upscale" they're going to have to deal with their neighbors. I was looking at the area on Street view and this is right down the street

That is priceless.

Great Raft and Red River opened their places in what had been run down areas, and they helped improve the area around them. They have a safe environment.

But Cotton Street has those shitty Fairmont apartments nearby. That may pose more of a challenge.

I doubt I go much, but I’m happy anytime someone pumps money into downtown.

Hopefully it’s successful.

Awful name though.
