Its easier to embrace a player going pro after one season when you get alot out of them...

And win
Call me selfish, but it's the honest truth.

Yep. Winning makes it all worth it.
Take that statement how you like.

And when you don’t know if you’ll have a coach worth a shite next year

Well obviously, it’s easier to embrace any player when they’re good and you win.
They don’t build statues of dudes who were average. People love a winner, it’s in our DNA.

We must embrace it no matter what. Always expect 1 and done in college basketball period.

Naz>>>>>>>>>Ben
Stat wise? or is this being facetious? It’s a conflicting argument for sure.......Naz won an SEC Championship, and made it to the Sweet 16........Ben didn’t win shite, then he decided not to play in the NIT, then the team decided not to play in the NIT....
With all that said, Ben is a certified professional, You won’t see Naz on that level for a few years maybe, if ever...

Not taking stats, measurements, or the NBA. Those things don't mean s**t to a college team. Naz was a talented team player that gave effort on and off the court. He had heart. Not like that Australian SOB everyone is in awe of, he did nothing to help LSU. I'll take a team full of Naz any day.

Naz is nowhere near ben while at lsu. He is more loved because they won more because he had a better coach. He also didnt bitch about being here like ben did. But dont mistake that for him being a better college player

Ben and Naz were put into much different situations.

Its so funny how different the narrative is on a one and done because of the coaching and surrounding talent. We knew ben and naz would both be one and dones before they ever got here.
The hate ben receives on this site is SO misguided.

If you swap Ben with Naz on this team, LSU is a 1 seed and maybe in the final 4 right now. Undoubtedly would be the best season we’ve had in most of this boards lifetime. Ben would be worshipped.
But since his team sucked (not because of him) everyone unjustly makes him the scapegoat for that disappointing season and for some reason try to make it seem like he didn’t do anything for us.

Naz
46.8 FG% 13.6 PPG 463 Points 72. RPG 244 Rebounds 0.9 APG 30 Assists
If you look at advanced metrics like win shares you see the real picture. Naz played with a much better team. Ben was the only shot the team had at winning consistently but he really didn't want to be there.
I like Naz better too but Simmons was definitely more advanced as a player than Naz is now.
And if this is sarcasm, we gotta work on developing that sarcasm fault.

One was coached by JJ, the other by WW.....

LSU got more out of Ben.
Love Ben. Love Naz. But LSU would probably still be playing if it was Ben instead of Naz.
