Finally starting Red Dead 2 -- give me some tips, tricks and overall knowledge

I trust the cumulative knowledge of the Gaming Board over the Internet. 
I am camped outside of Valentine, just been killed by a bear on a hunting trip and have a current $160 bounty on my head.
I have about $105 in my pocket.

Get your reading glasses ready. Don't get bounties at the start. At least only get them from story mode. Focus on building your camp up so you can fast travel.

Give up now. The game really isn’t good. Plays ridiculously slow and certain basic features (fishing) are locked behind hours of slow gameplay. Get ready to tap A and drive a horse for 60 hours. Don’t bother with online.

Anyone else reading this, you can skip to page 22 to really start reading.
Anyone have a consolidated list though.
1. Cinematic mode to rest your finger
2. Build up Valentine camp to fast travel
3. Go snipe hunting with Gavin

You will be tempted to ignore the story missions but don't go too far off course. I probably put in 70ish hours and didn't even get close to half way in the story. I had to take a break.

Don't spend too much time on the challenges unless you're a completionist. Some of them are stupid hard and they're not very rewarding when you finally complete them.

Dont neglect the story missions. If you wanna go high honor greet as many people as you can amicably. Ignore the window lickers on here trashing the game. It's extremely well polished and definitely spend some time in first person, you can ADS if you press down on the Dpad while pulling left trigger
