Looking back at their statements, things may not be as bad as they appear.

LSU admin's statement:
Will Wade's statement:
Nothing has really changed since March 8th. LSU took their action and Wade took his action. Wade actually extended a little olive branch to the admin stating that he understood the reasons for their actions. It would have been nice if the admin extended an equal and opposite olive branch. Something like, "we understand Coach Wade is following the advice of his counsel". But they didn't. Regardless, since March 8th nothing has changed. It appears the only opening is when the Dawkins matter is wrapped up either by completing the trial or a plea agreement.
I sure hope the LSU admin realizes that Will Wade having the ability answer their question in front of NCAA representatives freely and openly not only protects Will Wade but also protects LSU.
Until the Dawkins trial is wrapped up, Will Wade does not have that freedom and Wade and LSU are at risk. It seems that the LSU admin have realized that at this point it's better to let sleeping dogs lie until the Dawkins trial is finished.
But as a fan in a period of purgatory, it is painful.
quote:
“Recent media reports regarding Coach Will Wade are without question concerning to all of us. As such, we and university officials have taken deliberate and purposeful steps to fairly assess and adequately address this situation. As we have done since media reports first surfaced months ago, we are closely coordinating with the NCAA with every step. They have our full cooperation and we will continue to report to them all facts and information on this matter.
All of us at LSU share the obligation to protect the integrity of this institution, as such we have suspended Head Coach Will Wade indefinitely until such time as we can ensure full compliance with the NCAA, as well as institutional policies and standards. Assistant coach Tony Benford will assume the duties of interim head coach.”
Will Wade's statement:
quote:
Serving as the Head Basketball Coach at LSU has been the honor of my life. I love this university and all it stands for. From day one, I’ve been focused on building a winning program made up of excellent coaches and staff and a team of first-rate student athletes.
I cannot comment at this time on various media reports, except to say that they do not begin to tell the full story. I understand the University had to take action before all the facts are in, but I would ask everyone to withhold their judgment until the record is complete.
To my players and coaches, I support you 100%, and I will be with you in spirit as the season progresses. Your best response to this is to narrow your focus and make sure the last part of the season is the strongest part!"

It took you this long to figure out that both sides did what they had to do and now we just have to wait for the process to play out?

Nah, I knew it on March 8th however debating all the what if scenarios it's kind of a good practice to step back and reassess the current state of things. That was the purpose of the OP.

During the height of March madness and the SEC tournament, it was easy for folks to get caught up in the histrionics and hyperbole. All the what if scenarios exacerbated that. Hopefully folks will just sit back, logically asses the situation and wait for all the facts to come out. With any luck at all, we’ll get Wade back and Smart and maybe Naz (a guy can dream, can’t he).

Had we done that we'd be on our way to the final four. Joe Alleva and F. King Alexander need to get the hell out of Baton Rouge.

But DICK Vitale said he’s guilty.

We were pretty out-classed by Michigan State, who then went on to beat Duke. I'm not sure Will Wade brings us to victory over Izzo.
It would've been closer, sure, but this MSU team is playing lights out team ball.

The LSU admin acted on unsubstantiated rumors from a questionable media outlet.
No boss with common sense would ever question an employee about allegations of impropriety in front of an enforcement official without first knowing the liability to the organization.
This is sheer incompetence.

Yeah, that's why I'm not even mad about that loss. MSU was/is clearly a better basketball team.

Dickie is really no help. He just rode the coattails of Pat Forde and stirred the pot more.
I do believe there is something to the conspiracy theory that this is payback for Smart spurning Calipari. I mean, Pat Forde does conveniently live in Louisville and probably surrounded by some rather big Kentucky basketball donors.

Hopefully the contract already in place will save LSU from themselves. WW doesn't want to leave and lose the $, and LSU cant fire him with cause without getting sued. Everybody just needs to stand down and move on. Once this thing doesn't even go to court, there's no reason to continue this witch hunt and WW should be reinstated. Lessons learned all around. Somebody else needs to make the calls. Not WW himself. Alleva's contract is up for renewal this summer if I recall correctly. That's an obvious decision to move on from that joker. Then the new guy comes in and WW is comfortable staying. Compliance dept needs an overhaul. Theyre a bunch of glorified hall monitors that are power tripping and have the whole basketball program held hostage. F King and the BOS are next on the chopping block.

I just wish we had a decision. The standoff is stupid. Or since the season is over, at least let Wade resume day to day operational duties until the trial.

LSU isn't liable. This isn't a civil or criminal issue for Wade/LSU -- it's simply an NCAA issue.
I can see an employer suspending an employee accused of a felony or a violent crime before a trial, but this? This is just stupid and the latest example of how Alleva is a walking, talking scrotum.

You're right bout that.
A case could be made that Wade being on the court in the SEC tournament means we don't get the idiotice call against us that cost us that game vs Florida and perhaps get a better draw in the tournament and miss Sparty altogether or at least until the finals.
Great season none the less.

I'm talking about fans, I really don't think the administration had much of a choice. I know many disagree with that, I'm sure there are compelling arguments against the suspension but I haven't heard any that change my opinion.
I'm probably in the minority, but I'm not on the fire F King bandwagon, just the fire Alleva one. I've been on that one for much longer than the Wade situation. Thought the Alleva hire was stupid TBH.

You really think the admin handled this situation correctly? You think the admin HAD TO suspend him? If you do then your a fool. Bruce Pearl says Hi.

Weird how long this melt lasted.
Wade will be back, it's all formalities at this point.

I, humbly, disagree. Athletic Director Aleva has a track record of bumbling where personnel issues and overreactions to negative pushback are concerned.
Duke Lacrosse...he could not, would not, back his athletes in the wake of the near-entirety of the SJW world coming down hard on them.
