Who are the best trial lawyers in Louisiana?

Who are the guys in Louisiana that pull in the $1,000,000+ verdicts/settlements from car wrecks, maritime accidents, asbestos, etc.
I ask this because I accidentally came off this video on youtube LINK about a guy from Texas named Joe Jamail who is considered the best trial lawyer ever and it got me wondering who the guys from Louisiana would be.

If their ad says they are the best then by golly a trial lawyer wouldn’t lie about that!!!

The best don’t advertise cause they don’t need to.

Probably someone that in everyday life is unknown. The shady characters that advertise on TV and interstate bill boards are not the best.

Let me ask you this:
If you were sitting on a jury and knew that the attorney in front of you had a reputation as being one of the "best trial lawyers" in the area, would that make you more or less likely to be persuaded by their arguments?

“Best” is a relative term

No I'm not talking about the guys that buy ads & billboards. I'm talking results. The one's that get the big million dollar verdicts and settlements. The lawyers other lawyers refer cases to. For the lawyers on here, who are those people?

At least for the Baton Rouge area, Lewis Unglesby is up there.

It used to be that ‘the best’ trial lawyers had a ‘lock’ on the good cases because they paid ‘runners’ to get them in front of their injured co-workers, union mates, or church friends.
Some other lawyers would also refer the cases to them for a fee split.
The, along came ‘advertising.’ Insurance companies loved it, because the advertising lawyers didn’t have the skill or time to get a $10 million verdict. They would settle it for cheap, quick. And, by the looks of it, they still do. Insurance companies like this.
The ‘big time’ skilled lawyers have largely gone into class actions, multi-district litigation and other stuff. Some exist, but it’s hard to get cases with 10,000 billboards screaming at prospective clients everywhere.
Even if you are the best lawyer out there, you have to get a case. How are you going to do that?

A big verdict has nothing to do with a lawyer being the best

Joe Jamail was a bad arse trial attorney.
There used to be a YouTube video with him fighting with a defense attorney in a deposition. I think it was a Monsanto case. I can’t find it anymore but it was funny as hell. That old dude was about to fist fight with the other attorney.

Honestly, it would make me judge his case harder. I would know that he has likely presented his case in the best light that money can buy, so I would dissect everything.

Huge settlements or judgments like BP or tobacco are often class action suits and can involve numerous firms from multiple states. Some of those lawyers are top notch from powerful firms, but some lawyers involved are nothing more than figureheads. They are along for the ride because they are politically connected.
