I believe the current rule is they cannot boot you unless you have three outstanding tickets but double check that.
This is accurate. The new mayor and city council voted unanimously to change the boot procedure to affect only those with 3 or more unpaid tickets toward the end of last year. So you won't be booted after 1 ticket.
The new mayor didn't quite realize just how much $$$ that camera tickets generated before she got in office and promised to get rid of them all. But she has gotten rid of some of them, so I'll give her some credit there. I can think of a couple that used to always be going off and flashing no matter what and it was quite annoying.

Our new mayor campaigned to take them all down but this hasn’t happened yet.
I'm bumping this thread because I was in New Orleans a few weeks back and got two tickets for going 24 in a 20. I did some research and it looks like Cantrell actually lowered the speeding threshold from 26 to 24 instead of doing away with the cameras. Campaign promises are worthless, though I knew that already.
I guess I'll pay because, yes, I was speeding, and I'm down there enough that a boot is threat, but it's still a fricking questionably-legal racket. Burns me up. What's even more infuriating is you can see me braking in the video to get down to the school zone limit.
Link to article showing how much more they now collect by lowering the speed threshold.
