Did YOU read the OP?
None of these trees are diseased. He just wants his neighbor to cut down the trees because he is scared of them.
And wants the neighbor to pay for it. frick that guy.

I have no idea but I hate pine trees with a passion. Sappy, messy pains in the arse.

How much should I expect to pony up?
If they're healthy trees and he has no interest in having them removed? Expect to pay the entire bill.
Plus the value of said trees. Depending upon age that could only increase.

The way this thread has gone...
OP whining about healthy trees.
Everyone tells him tough titty.
Discussion about the OP having to pay it all.
Oweo said he would get the OP to sign a waiver for damages incurred during removal. And make the OP incure the costs of removal.
You said you would make the neighbor sign a letter vise versa if the neighbor didn't remove the trees.
Multiple people said your letter is stupid (via various responses).
You somehow dreamed up this thread is about unhealthy trees and we are missing the context.
Did I miss something?

That pretty well covers it, I just chuckle at the "make them sign" comment.

I’m going on a hunch that these 50ft pines are not new additions to his neighbor’s yard. Where were the complaints when they were 1-49ft?

My initial comment that in the scenario that the trees could potentially damage your property it could be worth talking to the neighbor. As such, I qualified Oreos comment that I would also require something in writing acknowledging that situation.

Normal neighbors don't walk over and ask you to sign random and bizarre documents. That sounds like the build up to a movie plot.

What you are missing is you dont have the authority to "require" anything and will get laughed at in the best case scenario or possibly leave with your document in an uncomfortable place in a less than ideal one.

The Burbs was a great movie. Classic Tom Hanks.

Exactly. I only said that in response to Oreo requiring something in writing.

Why not just ask your neighbor? I don’t understand the jerks that go out of their way to be jerks.

Wtf. It was a response to Oreos dumbass request and I made it tongue in cheek.
You need to work on reading comprehension.

ah yes, trees and fences. The 2 things that cause more problems with neighbors other than fricking their wife.

Exactly. So I have a question for you. If you have a fence that abuts two neighbor’s yards and they don’t have a fence so are basically using yours. When it’s time to replace it, do you ask them to contribute?

Oweo was 100% in the right to ask for his documentation. If he is paying someone to come on your property and do work, and that work has a potential for damage to your property, you're damn right he should ask the OP to sign something saying he will repair it.
The neighbor has all the power.
For once, Oweo wasn't a complete idiot.
