When a referee makes a controversial call that he knows will incite the coach, crowd and players, he should give the coach some room to be pissed off without getting a tech.

Good officiating would have the referee walk over to the coach and explain the call, give him a moment to vent, and move on.

Instead, they made a controversial call in an extravagant and unprofessional manner, and basically dared Benford the get mad about it.

The coach matters in this situation as well. Do you think they would have T’d up coach K in that spot?

They wouldn’t have T’d up Wade either...

I’m so damn curious as to how Wade would’ve handled that situation. He gets pretty heated sometimes too.

Did the officials review the foul call? It looked pretty clear to me the foul (which was obvious) occurred prior to the shot being launched.

Of course the coach matters. But in situations that the ref knows will be heated, he should give a bit of leeway to a coach.

Not to rant the whole game, but just for a few seconds.

It would have never come to that because Wade would have been on their arse the entire first half.

This.

When they showed the replay of what he did, I just laughed again at the absurdity of it all.

What was going on in the game at that point was so obvious.

They would have never T'd up a blue blood coach in that situation. Of course, a blue blood would have gotten a replay and it would have just been a regular foul. No three pointer and no tech. Just free throws.

But, that wasn't the job of the refs yesterday.

Welcome to Sankey`s SEC?
SEC officials are THE WORST IN HISTORY OF AMERICAN SPORTS!!
Stankey produces $$$ but no credibility.

I honestly wish we had another viable option for a conference! But the $$$ are too much.

Look, the refs did their job, plain and simple. Their job was to get LSU and the whole WW discussion/embarrassment off of TV

No

They only go the monitor at the end of a game when its a question of whether they should put 0.1 second back on the clock or not.

Benford fell right into the trap. No one else to blame.

I call BS on that statement. How many times in the past 2 weeks did the refs agonize over the replays for things other than a 0.1 sec call?

It was one of the most bizarre moments I have seen against a team since not to long ago , the NFC Title game. At same time think Benford wants that moment back a lot bc the technical put them in the lead, no technical were up 3 still. I was just as pissed and was speechless, still at the end of the day Head Coach has got to be smarter in situations like that.
