I dont feel bad for the driver but the cop did appear to put himself in position to be "hit" by the car.

The fact that he suspect was not dead on the spot is pretty amazing. They actually issued commands expecting him to respond.

I support LE first and foremost, but this one isn't cut and dry. Without knowing if the guy in the car pulled a weapon, firing on a car thief form that position looks suspect at the very least.

At 1:47 shows him in front of the car and he hadn't fired yet...
The driver should've known better, he's better off getting out and running if you're going to defy cops

The other shot on CCTV shows at 1:47 shows the car moving with him in front of it...that's assault w/deadly weapon already...
Even if the cop rips the door off and physically restrains him, the perp would be charged with that

For sure, but I'm addressing his baseless claim that the cop fired from the side of the car. No video I saw showed that.

Ehhh, I'm all about loving LE and hating on criminal assholes, but does a person deserve to die over a stolen car? I get that we put different values on life depending on who's life that is.

Try placing your troubled son in that position. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't think he would have deserved being shot 15 times for stealing a car and freaking out when confronted by LE.
BUT, does the world benefit from this guy's death? Most likely.
I'm just trying to be a little deep this morning...
