Disclaimer: I know there are a lot of good Millenials who have their heads screwed on straight, including many here. Not trying to start an inter-generational pissing match.

But that being said, as a whole it seems to me that AOC embodies many of the qualities of her generation. For example, I recall a poll about 6 months ago which showed that 44% of Millennials think Socialism is good and would be their preferred economic system/form of government. I know younger people of every generation tend to be more liberal than the population as a whole, but there is NO WAY that any previous American generation was ever 44% favorable to Socialism. Some may point to a geezer like Bernie Sanders and say we've always had people who felt this way, but Bernie Sanders never spoke for his generation. He was considered to be both odd and eccentric, to be honest (along with barely being known at all).

But, it isn't just about Socialism. For example, I never once heard the term "safe space" before Millennials came along. AOC can dish it out, but she squeals like a pig whenever anybody criticizes her. She also went to college, but usually can't articulate her ideas to save her life. Is it because, like many of her generation, she was being taught social constructs instead of the basics? Which obtw, the Millenials obviously didn't serve as their own teachers. The brainwashing/poor education they received is laid squarely at the feet of the 2 generations which preceded them.

So my question is, has AOC become the face of the Millennial generation?

No, she’s become damn near the exclusive talking point of this board.

LMAO. You've gone too far. Only people who follow politics regularly would know who AOC is.

So then you have to ask yourself, how many Millenials follow politics regularly?

Then you have to ask, how many Millenial politic followers take her seriously?

Probably not many. This is a case of consuming too much TV/news.

ETA: You can't be the face of a generation if you're only marginally popular among the ENTIRE generation and only garner marginal support of the people that do know you.

Ask an average Millennial to describe a Socialist economic system/ form of government and what % of them do you think could come close to giving you an acceptable answer?

You baws on here who wallow in paranoia about the imminent socialist threat are laughable.

And those who think that every Democrat is ready to blindly follow everything that spews out of AOC's mouth are even more laughable.

The right-leaning part of the media would love to be able to whip their watchers/listeners into a frenzy over that. Looks like they are doing a pretty good job so far.

Yes but only the ones on the Left and that's why our resident Libs are so upset with threads pointing out her/their shared stupidity.

No, but she receives a lot of media attention despite her extremely poor grasp of economics and politics. I'm being very generous when I say she is not far off of the normal every day mouth breathing millennial that supports a political system that they know little to nothing about at all.

She is easy on the eyes, and outspoken. She pontificates the message of the left and the socialist movement for which she is greatly inept to carry.

Dumb group think often follows dumb group think leader. It's the cultural shift in America.
